Hyundai Santa Fe - Blows ECU Fuse

So I neeeeeed help lol, so Hyundai decided they were going to put the ac clutch in the big ecu block and I dont want to mess with it and in order for them to even look at it is gonna be 175 bucks and I really dont want to pay for that and I'm really pissed cuz it just broke on me in the beginning of the summer time( my bad luck at its finest. Do you think it's an ac fuse? I noticed the ac isnt blowing humid sticky air when the ac switch is turned on. The only reason I know about that is because I had an 03 lancer and the clutch coils were bad and I had to manually enguage it with a bar but this time my hyundai is a free spinning one but it's not humid when I switch it on. is it the fuse? The clutch? The ac wire? And how would I go about the fuse if it's in the ecu?

I think you are too modest with your skill. It's not just luck that leads to a quick diagnosis. As with many fields, there are so many intangibles that come along with diagnostic work, like little details in how something sounds, or when the fuse blows. A lot also comes from experience and, with wire shorts, knowing what places are vulnerable or likely to be problems (like spots where the harness turns a tight corner or passes near an edge. Your skill leads to a quick and accurate diagnosis, not luck. Keep up the good work! This industry needs more technicians like you.

Eric, I've been watching your videos and all of them are extremely interesting. I recognize sometimes there are some mechanic stuff that is hard to understand, besides the fact that is not really my topic, but the way you explain everything and the time you take to breakdown every diagnosis to make us understand, is something that everyone appreciates. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and skills. Definitely we need honest and real mechanics like you. I know everywhere but specially down here in Costa Rica!

2017 Rav4 XLE AWD
same story on this end, BATTERY JUMPED BACKWARDS (I know.
Both fuse boxes with blown fuses.
Right hand side fuse box facing the vehicle with a few blown fuses 10A, 20A (already replaced.
Left hand side relay/fuse box with the HTR 50A blown.
When I try to installation a new 50A as soon it touches the pins/terminals the fuse blown again (already try 3new fuses and same issue.
AC NOT WORKING no air coming out of the vents (hot or cold.
Any suggestions?

I had almost same problem on my daughters forester, car just died completely as I was pulling in driveway from a DIY repair test drive. I diagnosed it in 10 minutes myself! I shouldn't neglect to say that i was the idiot who installed the 02 sensor in the new aftermarket cat with the knowledge it was possibly going to rub, so I kinda had a head start!

great video once again and good diag skills. I enjoy watching SMA a bit more than scannerdanner because unlike Eric O, scannerdanner does not have im wrong, i stuffed up, I shouldn't have done that, what I should have done instead in his vocab.
ScannerDanner is too perfect. A self-proclaimed deity diag dog. too much for me.

couple years late to this party, but, damn! you wonder why auto repair shops have bad repS. in 9 minutes of clock time eric had it localized. and that's after he had to reconnect all the stuff the other guys had yanked off? makes me shake my head. sure hope They gained something from this! he sure does light the way!

Man. You are absolutely the BEST!
More patience than a saint! They should show your videos in auto tech schools. Nothing like working the problem from different angles.
I would definitely drive my car from Scenic Scranton Pa. for you to repair it. !

Outstanding vid Eric! I'm glad they called you instead of shooting the parts cannon at it! You found the short in under 20 minutes. WOW. You are a diagnostic guru. Shorts are a nightmare. but you make it look easy. You are well respected in the community.

Those bare wires are really too much nobody can see that those bare wires are too obvious somebody should be able to see that easily if the fuse is blowing you got bare wires that are shorting out probably the power wire shorting to the ground wire
