Hello Mr. O.
I just wanted to let you know that I have a great deal of respect for you. I watch allot of your videos and I must say I have learned quite a bit from you. I love your attitude that if your going to do something, do it right! You are probably one of the best mechanics I've ever seen. I'm an electrician so when I watched you diagnose a low compression cylinder with a scope, I was very impressed. Many mechanics are great with mechanical things but struggle with all things electrical in vehicles. I also appreciate your commitment to knowing that a component is bad with multiple test methods rather than just throwing parts at a problem. I've heard you say that other viewers have criticized you for the way you treat your wife. First, that's none of their business, but honestly I can tell you have nothing but respect for her. Clearly, you guys have a great relationship cuz she doesn't seem like the type of woman that would put up with anything she didn't want to.
Anyway, don't know if you'll ever read this, just thought I'd throw my two cents in.
Keep up the great work.
Respectfully,
Aaron Jacobson

I run into the same thing. It happens more on the closed systems where there is no rad. caps just coolant overflow tanks. I do similar testing as you. Sometimes, I check the hoses and tubing making sure they are clear as well. Many veh. as you know have the cheap metal tubing along the fire wall and around sides of the engine, when the vehicle gets old it breaks down and rots internally running through the inside of the metal pipe heater hoses and heater core and rarely wedging in the thermostate at times keeping it slightly open. Great job Eric, Great video. Thanks. Do you suggest a heater core flush additive from prestone or water pressure is fine? Thanks again. By the way I warm up my car. Your 100 percent on doing that. Especially when its a tropical N. Y 5 or 10 degrees outside. Lololol. Be well Thanks

My old Black 180D used to take 45 minutes of highway at 60mph before I could feel the heat in SD winter. Best to open the heater core to max and shut down the flap door to 1/8 open. If its 10 below in those days I always ran #1 Diesel to keep the injector pump working. My wife, riding beside me in the '06 Sprinter, always says as soon as I turn the key; turn on the heat! Then, she starts fooling around with the heater controls. Life in the fast lane.

living in nebraska i use to cover the radiator with card board. i made a cut out of the blue oval to let some air to flow through the radiator. the cut out hole can be small to pretty big. well mr o you know the tractor trailers do that in the winter. the tractors have a cover with a zipper on it so they can adjust the amount of air to flow through there radiator. the card board worked pretty good for my old car.

I have a 94 Cadillac 4. 6l northstar engine and in temps like what you are dealing with it too needs a good 20-30 min warm up to put out comfortable heat and still doesn't produce full heat until about 10 minutes down the road, I live about 25 min from work and I have really good heat for the drive to work, I just relax and sip on my coffee and enjoy the ride to work

Been telling customers not to blast the heater till it warms up some for years. Glad to hear someone else say this. With a 5 min warm up time heater blasting from start and a 10 min drive to work my temp gauge basicly never moves. Same 5 min warm up with no heater running during warm up, I have good heat for the drive to work.

my thinking if costumer is just complaining for that it is all most 0 and that they drive a short time to work then id say its ok. But if they say its been doing this for say a week and it was fine before that an the temp outside say 32F. Well then id say the thermostat needs changed an a flush out the system.

I warm up my car during the winter. I dont see how anybody can start their car cold with the idle screaming and just slam in into gear and go. Make NO SENSE. I dont care that it has a computer, its still getting warmed up.

Also when you turn the fan on high, the air volume is so fast it doesn't have time to heat up the air, another thing she can do since she is only 6 miles away from her job is place a sheet of cardboard in front of her radiator
