we start the process of replacing the front lower control arms / ball joints and the outer tie rod end on this '09 Ford Fusion. It came into the shop with a customer complaint of a shimmy and clunk in the front end. Doesn't take long to find the worn suspension parts and broken belt in the tire!

ford/mazda my 2013 mazda 6 55, 000 new ac compressor, new break pads, rotors, both cv axles, everything rubber is failing. i have to still replace all rubber in steering ans suspension. just had my recalled airbag replaced, i need a new cat converter, all is covered under fed warranty. paint clear coat is failing in a few locations on car, i baby this car, not very happy with things not lasting. its funny seeing the ford name all over this mazda its crazy. hopefully nothing major happens with motor itself

that two piece ball joint that ford uses, toyota also uses in their super strut suspension. the only difference is that that design does not have the dog bone strut that joins the shock strut to the front lateral arm and the upper ball joint. Very nice on road performance but quite hard on front tires. and a bear to maintain because of the two piece A arm.

Just Had the Lower Control Arms on My Lexus 04 ES330, Which Also Include the Lower Ball Joints. DEALER Wanted 2000 for the Repair. Bought MOOG UNITS From Adv. Auto Parts, W/ Lifetime Gtd. Let An Independent, ASE Certified Mech. Do It for Less Than A Third of What Dealer's Quote Was, Car Handles Like New, As All Springs & Struts Were Repl. Recently.

I feel like I need to point out that using power tools to remove or install lug nuts is highly unrecommended. Sure its fast but its also a sure way to strip the bolt. I know because I've had this happen more than once from dumkauf mechanics. However it is an excellent way to learn how to replace the studs.

I had no idea what the Chrome capped nuts were all about. Couldn't believe it when I found out this was actually done. Replaced all nuts with mcgard solid Chrome lug nuts. Couldn't stand that removing the wheel was the hardest part of most jobs. No more. Did the same on sister's car.

I can see the engineer having finally figured out where exactly he wants everything in the suspension to get the perfect geometry. Then he sees that the bolts are in the worst possible places for removal while Servicing. Good enough. Not my problem.

I worked on one of these junks the other day over here in VT front springs broken drivers outer tie rod front control arm and abs sensor. amazingly it all came apart except had to heat the metal sleeve on that control arm and air hammer it off.

19: 14 taking that sleeve off, use the ball joint splitter to put some pressure on it then give it a lil hit with an air hammer and it should pop off easy. also tapping with a hammer can work if thats all you have

I was working my girlfriend's rusty Mazda 6 this weekend and cursing Ford the whole time. My favorite part of this wretched platform is having to run an extension through the rear trailing arm to access the rear caliper bolt.
