we give this old 2007 Chevy Express van some overdue TLC. We replace the rear brake pads, rotors, calipers, backing plates, axle seals and parking brake shoes. This is a very common repair in the rust belt unfortunately. It is not overly difficult but time consuming

Eric. The bolt in the carrier that snaps off and leaves half of it that you cant get out- try using a dental pick or similar pointy tool in the hole and rotate it ccw. I find that about half the time that bolt is broken but leaves a small fracture point that finds the thread in the hole. Spinning the broken bolt the edge finds the thread and spins it right out. I've never had it fail. thanks

I've pinched off brake hoses for years. never had a problem doing this, so I dont see why people wood get upset. It's a good way to test if your front of rear brakes are out of adjustment with drum brakes. I've also used it to check for bad master cylinders. I do like your videos.

i know this vid is old new to me tho. lol my work also flips from using pliers to pinch the line so i started using a rubber valve stem in place of the bolt to the brake line to stop the dropping works great and no worries about damaging the line.

I replaced rotors and brake pads on my wife's 2001 Lincoln town car, on the front.
I can say I am glad we live in the south. Didn't have any problems removing bolts, or parts. Went back together easy as well.

To make removal of the axle seal a little faster when I am pulling the axle out of the housing I hook the lip of the seal with the end of the axle and pry it out of the bore in a second. Easy peezy.

LOL. This one was using what we call piston friction LOL. Where are you located mate! Watching this as I'm applying masking tape to my soon to be painted calipers.

A mechanic changed the roaters and break pads on my Chevy express van and now the break light is on my dashboard. What can be the issue that they did wrong?

Eriiic, you're not supposed to leave fluid film on topa the parking brake shoes. That's a BAAAD practice. You're supposed to clean it up with brake cleaner!

Eric O I just went to buy a parking brake set for an 01 Tahoe, same set up I think, the parking brake assembly was discontinued, only rebuild kits now
