I repair a leaking rear A/C high pressure line on a Dodge Durango. The kit I use from S. U. R. &R can be used to repair all kinds of leaking A/C lines and hoses. The make really nice A/C line block offs too

I have a 2014 Durango and the same thing happened 2 years after purchase (2016. I was so mad I drafted a letter to FCA and my wife deleted it. At least if was still under warranty. Anyway, they claimed they had to partially lower the fuel tank to do the work so I ran the tank as low as I could and dropped it off for the day. Came back at 5 PM and drove off satisfied. Fast forward 16 months and I'm at my brother-in-laws farm and he puts it up on his lift. He is curious since his friends just bought a used Durango of the same year. Well, the lines had all popped out of those cheap plastic holders and he found a missing gas tank strap bolt. Thankfully he is a trained mechanic (heavy diesel but I don't let that bother me ) so he found a suitable replacement bolt and showed me a way to strap the a/c lines back and keep them from banging around.
After I returned to my dealer I showed them the picture of the missing bolt. They apologized. Later I found out the mechanic was given a royal butt chewing for the mistake. I'm just glad that the tank didn't fall out of the 700 mile trip to my in-laws.

Since I was a guy who did this work, and moved on to doing commercial HVAC work, let me recommend not only the Nylog mentioned below, but also to pressure test the system with dry nitrogen up to the working pressure with a little 134a in the system, and then go over everything for a final leak check. As you no doubt know, Chrysler had a big problem with evaps leaking, and my detection method was to hold my sniffer at the evap case drain, since the refrigerant was heavier than air, and when I had silence (from the detector) it was golden.

Hello Eric, I have 2006 highlander with a loud noisy AC compressor not cooling, the gauges read about 85 Psi on both high and low static pressure, and 15 on low and only 100 on high when compressor kicks in. Do you think its a bad compressor or a restriction?
Could a bad compressor sucks from the suction line and gets the low pressure gauge to that low reading but not produce any compression at the same time?
Thank you

A/C is nothing but a PITA, I've never been one to worry if it worked or not, my last truck I simply removed the belt, could cared less is it worked or not. I just roll down the window, being up here in Nova Scotia, yes it gets hot but I'm usually by the cool ocean breeze anyway.
Nice fix tho Sir, it's about the same I would have done if truly needed

After fitting the 1st half of the fixing remove the centre part leaving the o ring olive and nut on the pipe. then fit the fitting on the 2nd pipe connection, the o ring and olive will line up fine then re fit the first connection, should align easier

Great video as usual. I just pulled the condenser out of 1991 Mercury Cougar and patched a hole with jb weld. As soon as it cures I'll put some pressure to the line and see if it works. My cousin said that I have a 1 in 10 chance of success. we'll see.

If the car manufacturer companies hired good people like Mr. O as a consultant as to the serviceability of their vehicles and how to make things better, the world would be a better place.
