I have a look at a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5. 3 that came in with codes P0171 and P0174 indicating that the engine is running lean. It doesn't take to long to find the problem and come up with a temporary fix

For a connection into the plastic induction tube, my personal preference might have been to examine if a tyre valve stem for a wheel rim with the valve removed could be used instead of the plastic elbow bonded with adhesive. The curve of the induction tube could be an issue. The valve insert may want to pop out instead of holding the thin induction tube to a matching near-flat shape. My personal preference to deal with that would be to drill the hole to a slight undersize which will make the induction tube want to curve inwards, insert a valve stem, then gently with a head gun apply a little heat to the plastic induction tube to allow the tension from the valve stem to reset the shape of the induction tube. That could be a bit dangerous if the induction tube shrank away and stretched the hole too large. Thanks for the generous information you share.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't use a 3/8 pipe thread tap and use a threaded nipple and then epoxy that in and make a permanent nipple. I would trust epoxy only as a temporary fix because of heat cycles. Time will tell but glue/epoxy and plastic has a tendency to change over time. I can see Eric isn't a big fan of the intake setup. For the 2% gain in power as a stand alone given the problems that come with them I question the sanity. Then again, the guy puts that puts an air cleaner on and leaves hoses open, then can't figure out why there is a problem, can't be the sharpest tool in the shed.

How would I have fixed it? Same way.
How would I have diagnosed it? Driven it onto back lawn. Disassembled engine down to a long block. Douse liberally with the parts cannon. Reassemble engine without vacuum leaks.
I'd make a truly awful diagnostician/mechanic hahaha!
Thanks for the awesome videos. Always as entertaining as they are educational.

Recommend a Grommet for easy installation and removal for other techs to remove it without breaking it.
But I understand the name South Main Auto I've visited Main before, They are the other Mass Holes that didn't like the original Mass Holes.

When you're using that easy intake smoker do you need to or did you open up the throttle Butterfly to allow the smoke to enter the system Easier? So I know if I need to do that step or not.

Eric I've got the same problem, can I use the molded nipple on the passenger side of the intake to run my valve cover hose to? Thank you

I'd tell customer that the aftermarket intake doesn't have the port for that hose and the fix is put the original filter back on

In a case like this, i use a valvehousing from a tire. A nice time for you in US and kindly regards from Jens in germany
