In a previous video I looked at a Toyota Camry that was towed in for a no start. We made the call on the fuel pump and the car was towed away for a cheaper fix. Welllll. it's back!

I've had trouble even with a Fuel Miser sender unit which I fitted into my Holden Commodore in early 2019, the gauge was buggered & I didn't notice because the fuel gauge wouldn't always read full, the copper prongs were bent on it & they snapped when I tried to straighten them.
The point is the fuel pump sender unit was 300 AUD retail but I got it for 100 AUD, so I bought a 75 AUD one on eBay & the fuel pressure regulator failed in that one.
The fuel pressure regulator should've held 58 PSI of fuel pressure but it eventually only held 50 PSI & got lean codes stored in the PCM so I tried swapping the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel miser sender unit but that ended up being a similar deal with 51-52 PSI of fuel pressure.
It would seem o. k. but sometimes the fuel trim would max out at 25% on both engine banks it having a 5. 7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine fitted & either a P0171 or a P0174 code would be set.
Now I have a Chinese PR217 fuel pressure regulator fitted which I adjusted to 60 PSI of fuel pressure, the engine is more fuel efficient now & the fuel trims have been both at 0%.
Yes, I don't think that the customer who owns that Camry will get his money back on the fuel sender unit & by the time he has spent money on tow trucks he could've paid you to fit a brand new OEM one!

How to pick at the wreakers. Look at the mileage on the odometer if not seen than look at the oil change sticker. That's how I first start e. g. looking for low mileage wreaks. Failure to find than look at condition of over all auto is rusted out (avoid) Looks under the hood to see if new parts installed under if so that is a good sign, pick the best one. Also, B4 your go to the wreaker other make and model will cross to several others of that make and model. Go to any online parts and find the cross to yours. Last, take the bad pump with you so as you have a reverence as to correct fit.

I wondered how much the customer could possibly save by using the ebay pump. I went to t, which usually has the full range of options from very cheap junk to very expensive OEM (possibly junk too. On this one the price range for the fuel pump was insane. Cheapest was less than ten bucks, no kidding. Denso was 97. Delphi was 175. Strangely, an economy option no-name was a whopping 321 (but it did come with the 2 strainer for free. I'd have gotten the Denso.

Prank your wife. Tell your wife that you found a great deal on a tow truck that you are going to train her to drive and pickup cars and trucks. The joke would be more believable if you had an old tow truck parked in the yard and you tell her you got a steal on the tow truck. See what happens.

I can't throw any stones. I have 4 hondas and toyota. I spent the extra money to get the most reliable cars and then I throw the cheapest crap parts at them when they break. It has to be some kind of mental illness.

Yup where I'm from we call that a penny wise but a pound foolish. Also what we do is actually replace the pump its self. So we disassemble the whole pump and replace the motorize pump then rebuild and test then deliver.

Don't understand why his buddy (who was capable enough to put in the ebay pump) didn't put in the used pump also, guy was definitely penny wise and pound foolish with this job.

Too bad he doesn't live close to scotty. He could have been in two YouTube videos. By the way. Does scotty have a shop or does he do everything on the grass in his backyard?
