Appreciate your posts, have learnt a lot and am now able to utilise the info. unfortunately I dont have the diagnostic tools. so a lot of my desicions as to where to go are based on my forty years of working on my own vehicles. eventually i can find the fault without using the local meathods. ie change parts till you fix it, these modern cars are always a challenge in this respect and all I have are a couple of code testers. big help in narrowing down the problems. thanks for all the help. pete

That what you do, you charge for fixing the problem. My biggest concern is bringing a car to have it fixed and paying for someone to LEARN what the problem is. And believe me, I have done this. This is why you need to find an honest, experienced person to work on your vehicles! And you Eric, are in my book, an experienced auto mechanic. Keep up the great videos and stop charging for all the extra time to make these videos, LOL J/K Stay healthy!

Those scan tools are priced well out of the range of getting them to do your own DIY work vs. just paying a mechanic for a diagnosis. Blue Driver only gets one so far. More complex or multi-layered issues leave DIYers chasing stuff for ages due to lack of access to sensor data. At least that's my current experience.

As a flat rate tech nothing grinds my gears more than people thinking I should look at things for free no matter how quick it is. If the vehicle comes in for a check engine light Im taking that hour no matter what. I dont care if I find the issue in 2 minutes

People are moron bred idiots that don't/won't keep a clean air filter on the engine. Engines are damned costly so why take a chance on prematurely wearing it out over a lousy filter. Those after market filters like this are a waste of money.

I hear that all the time, but it didnt take very long and it was easy to fix! Then, if it was so easy, then why didnt you fix it yourself? Pay me! People dont realize how much diagnostic computers cost, plus all the tools.

Great video! Totally fair for charging for your time. People need to learn they are paying for your experience and investment in tools. Just because you're efficient doesn't mean your labour value goes down.

Yes, it was a simple fix, with your expertise. Don't in the least feel bad for it. I went to a uralogist who worked 1/2 an hour and sent biopsies to the lab. All this and I was billed 4, 000.

Yes, at least on my duramax when I was in a bad blizzard. Damn Chevy engineers designed a piss poor air intake to filter. Snow CAN/WILL fill up the filter box. Fricking idiots. I redesigned mine.
