Not being critical here, as I like your methods: I like to crack the bleeder to get the old, nasty fluid out of the caliper when pushing the caliper pistons back. Since the fluid doesn't circulate, the heat soak of the caliper, could break the fluid down. Last thing you need is fluid boiling due to heat cycling. Gets kinda hot around the caliper. Just saying.

I remember flat ratin brake jobs and beating the clock and still doing all the steps you did including opening the bleeders and gravity bleed for a couple seconds then topping off the brake fluid. Nice to see a good job done!
I have a feeling you didn't attempt open the bleeders because there is a very high probability that they were frozen and clogged.

In the late 80's and early 90's on the Chevy trucks with the Kelsey-Hayes anti-lock systems. If you didn't open the bleeder valve when you compressed the calipers it would screw up the ABS system and make for a spongy brake pedal. Even the Chevy dealers back then couldn't figure out what the problem was. Anyway, because of that I always open the bleeder when compressing the calipers.

Replaced front pads and rotors on our odyssey before a Trip to Texas. Didn't use thread locker on caliper bolts.

Scotty Kilmer is a hoot. Another New Yorker that moved to Houston. I think Scotty is a lot smarter than everyone gives him credit. Needs to clean his garage. Plus, EVERYBODY KNOWS HIM.

Dude. Why do you push all of that nasty fluid from the caliper back up into the system? Why not crack the bleeder screw? I would never pay you to do a brake job on my vehicle.
