Amazing service I dont understand why both the axles were not done at the same time?
The other shop should have negotiated the changes.
Whats the decision point for the rust, in your case the tie rod end was almost broken and you mentioned not wanting to open it or remove it because the car had only one more year or less left. Whats the conversation like when youre done or the car shouldnt be put back on the road?

Thanks for the videos! I'm working on the same corner wheel bearing on an '04 Forester out in the driveway right now. Hub is out but that lower control arm bolt is fighting me. It's not rusted up, the bolt will turn a little in the bushing (SE Texas here) but that nut will NOT bust loose. Used an electric 1/2 impact gun and 18 breaker bar. Nut is just getting beat up on the outside. Time for an air impact gun?

Sure I could do it - with big nasty - a hub tamer - a 10 pound slide hammer - several impacts sawzalls and other battery powered tools - a 9000 pound lift - a tool cart full of tools - about 20 years of experience - and gumption. lots of gumption. a true craftsman always makes his craft look easy. nice video - my wife has an 03 forester with 100k on it - I'm expecting bearings about any time now.

My 2005 forester rear wheels require new backing plate because they are both way rusted. Seems I need to remove the hub! My question is, after replacing the backing plate, to assembly back the hub do I need to disconnect the shaft and do it same way as after replacing the bearings? Or I can assembly back the hub (hammering it) back into the hole with out disconnecting the shaft? Any lead

I'm doing an '04 Forester RR bearing right now. No rust but even with a brand new Earthquake XT impact wrench (supposedly 1190 ft/lb) and a fresh 2-stage 60gal compressor I couldn't get the nut off the lateral link bolt. Cut the head off the bolt and it slid out like butter. What the heck are those torqued to from the factory?

No critisizm here, I just enjoy the video. I never seen a crack on the strut tower, nor have I looked. You did make my ball joint experience a lot better. I started it, gave a good whack with a hammer and it went in smooth as a baby's bottom. Chevy C10 with the big 5. 7. I could hear that other bearing! Yikes. Stay healthy!

Have you tried the semi new lenox gold power arc blades? They're a titanium nitride coated blade that supposed to cut like a mother. I havent tried them yet but they did a demonstration where they cut through a car with it, so hopefully they're pretty good.

Great Video on the Subaru rust Bucket rear axle bearing job. That is why I have a G. M. C. 2015 Colorado. Have always bought American, only had 1 ford a 1963 Ford Falcon with a 6 and three on the tree. Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
