Automotive Wiring Diagrams & Service Info

The question I get asked the most is Where do I get all of my free wiring diagrams and service information? Well I wish it was free! The truth is, just like any other shop I pay hundreds of dollars a month just for service information, not including OEM and aftermarket scan tool subscriptions. The good news is, DIY options and OEM short term subscriptions are available to you! Is it free? Nope. Rich: Great info Eric. There's nothing worse than trying to work on a vehicle blind with no info or ability to test things. In your trade, you have to spend money to make money, the tools are not cheap but they make your work many times easier than it would be trying to do it shade tree style.

Too bad that with proof of ownership, one cannot force the vehicle manufacturers to provide factory manuals using the Federal Freedom Of Information Act to current owners of their vehicles. Owning vehicle is liability enough to create a bonafide need for accurate repair information.
I had shops.
I was a professional.
I also bought all the professional service manuals that were available (mostly CDs later on, but originally in printed manuals) for all the makes and models of potential customer's vehicles, even though I'd never see a Lada, Citroen or Toyopet in any of my shops, but they were part of the packaged deal.
Now at 75 years old, I represent ZERO competition to any professional shops where I live (I wouldn't go to them anyway)--- so why cannot an owner of a certain vehicle have real information?
My most modern vehicle is a 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer. surely I cannot impinge upon the profits of privateer shops nor dealers by my having some secret service documents. right? Without real info (schematics, pin-outs, color codes, etc) how could my having old-fashioned info for a 15 or 16 year old vehicle have any impact on the wheels of industry?

ONE of your most IMPORTANT videos. I realize you like to teach people how to fix cars, and your videos do just that for the most part. But most of the time people watch you just to hear you talk and pretend they are your customer in your shop watching you work on their cars. Which is also the reason we miss MRS>O. We don't get to go in the office and pay our bill. And take a tootsie pop from the glass bowl on the counter. haha, for free. The diagrams and information you are talking about is so valuable, it's like trying to drive across the USA without a MAP or GPS. YEAH you could follow the sun and eventually you'll make it, but at night all your going to hear IS BANJO MUSIC when you roll your windows down! I did the year one for my 1994 Honda, after i got access, MAN what a difference, you have to be nuts not to pay. with the money i saved on labor i was able to buy 4 sets of DORMAN brake pads instead of just 1. haha thank you ERIC

I love your videos. I was a computer system engineer my whole life, ret. now, and the troubleshooting you do is exactly analogous to the work I did everyday on large computer installations, except not as messy! Thank you for your vids, I'm going to watch them all! Oh yeah, I wish you had more Mazda's to repair. On second thought, maybe I'm grateful you don't get many that are broken!

Very good and accurate information as usual. Thank you for taking the time to put out these videos. I have a new Pico scope and have updated a lot of my equipment because of watching your videos. I am retired mechanic and machinist and I try to stay up to date for my small shop here on the ranch. Your information has been a big help. Top notch.

I believe I may Mitchell 1 DIY for the old girl, and possibly my 2011 Mini Cooper S

I've gotten electrical drawings free from Autozone but a couple of months ago I tried it and now they charge for the info. I bought a set of factory service manuals off of Ebay for my wife's Yukon, about 5 books. There is so much stuff in the books I could hardly find my way around to get what I needed.

FYI: Honda does have flags on their system that will see if you, attempt to aggressively print out PDFs of every possible service your vehicle might need. They didn't cut me off while I was doing it but I did get an automated nastygram. after my 24 hour subscription had already lapsed.

This is an amazing resource video Eric. One of the hardest parts of fixing cars is getting good info. Thank you! You're saving people money and getting them driving again. I'm sure you know that can be very valuable and life changing to people in different stations in life. Thank you.
