Dodge Caravan: ABS Module Failure / No Speedometer Barry: Hey Eric. enjoy your work very much! Not many I know are so thoughtful & detailed, have learned a lot. thanks!
I have 1 question. I have a 2010 Grand Caravan 3. 3 ltr. It appears 1 or 2 dash instrument lights may be loose. sometimes they are ok & other times not. The dealer (stealership) tells me they are not replaceable & I need to replace the cluster! My question is. in your experience are there bulbs or maybe l. e. d. assemblies & can they be replaced? I appreciate all that you do. Barry.

UPDATE:
The lady brought the vehicle back several weeks after the diag and I installed a used ABS module. However at that point the front brakes were grinding metal against metal along with many other issues. She had me install and program it (initialization process to rewrite VIN) After that the ABS would communicate just fine and the speedometer now works. The downside is it had several codes in it for speed sensors. No big surprise but the good news is she can now go get the inspection sticker and hammer down the road safe and sound.

I have a 98 Dodge Durango an the abs module stopped working on mine an I want to bypass the module an delete it. How can I delete it? Can I run a resister so it can be unplugged an the brake lines just plumbed like old school before abs existed. Brake lines are easy I just want to get rid of the abs module but not mess up the speedometer

Mister O! A thank you for a fix recommendation. My 98 S10 has had intermittent, mostly non performing heat in the cab. Luckily I live in the South, so heat here is relative and only needed on occasion. However, I did your CLR forward and back flush on the core, 1 hour each way, and voila', suddenly I have heat!

I've seen you and danner cut a CAN wire once it's confirmed the CAN network is in tact down stream. If I understand correctly, you plug it in, cut the wire, and verify that there is in fact no Hi or Low CAN present. Why were you able to make the diagnoses without doing that in this case?

Probably a bad or cracked solder joint on the PCB inside the ABS module. Common problem with most automotive devices. Some ABS modules on some vehicles are well over a 1, 000 just for the part plus programming it and installing it.

Eric,
I saw you using your Wera socket set so I brought one. Not realising it was a lifestyle tool, I have resisted wearing it out to the tavern. Don t feel too much different lifestyle wise! Great videos and commentary.

ABS module on my 2000 Expedition went out (continuous running key in or out. Opened it up and found the MOSFET was burned out. Soldered in a new one for 3. Sealed it back up with RTV and been running for 2 years now.
