Reminds me of the time when I was looking for a new snowblower. I asked a mechanic who worked on small engine equipment for a recommendation. He said he had guys come in all the time looking for xyz part for MTD transmissions. You can't buy parts for MTD equipment, only sub assemblies and whole assemblies. It's a shame because a 0. 10 part makes you throw the whole shebang away.
But, he told me that Ariens has any part you need to fix equipment even for stuff going back 20 years.
Guess what I bought and on top haven't needed any repair parts!

Mr
Very cool teardown and fix: )
Brings back a memory from 1993 to me, when my dad took apart my 1982 Mazda 323 (GLC) blower motor, because it randomly stopped working, but the good old hit it with the fist -method made it working again.
At least the brushes turned out to be worn & dirty commutator, but the bearings were still good, so he did something that I've forgot by now, and the blower motor worked the rest of the time I had the car (had it until March 1999) just fine: )

Teslarawks!
I tried to rebuild my Taurus starter last week, the Armature was melted no saving it. I think someone I left in the car turned the key to start instead of accessory and just melted it in two spots. I used to rebuild them for Parts Plus. I took my sandpaper and couldn't save this one. it grounded out realll bad. Shame on me.

Can't tell you how many times I've done that to those cheap box fans. They won't turn when plugged in and turned on.
Solution: take fan and motor apart, clean sleeve bearing and shaft and 9 times out of ten, you'll get more years of service out of them.

As with small engines, labor wize and the condition of the part doesn't make it worth repairing certain parts. It's easier and cheaper replacing the defective part than fixing. Yes, that may work for a while, bit chances are, that will fail again.

Reminds me of a time i was on a road trip with a friend. His starter bushings seized up and we were about 50 miles from the nearest parts store. I was able to do the no parts required repair till we got to the parts store

Fan on the drinks fridge required this exact same fix, sadly only lasted some months more and then had to get a newby.
Certainly gets you out of a bind if you are patient and handy.

Good see this breakdown and repair, will work when no new motors available. I think the very dirty cabin air filters contributed to water/ moisture trapped inside HVAC box. Great job

Would you be concerned about a drainage block that caused water to collect in the bottom of motor being the lowest point and rusting it up and if it might happen to the new motor?
