Honda: Earth Dreams 3. 5 GDI Replacing Fuel Injectors

As i watched i wanted to give you some tips, my trick to remove that upper intake is loosen those 3 ten mils on the computer, as opposed to popping off the cover, gives u just that little amount of clearance, trust me u can get a wrench in there between that bracket. Also, no need to try an unplug the injectors before you yank the fuel rail off, or unplug the high pressure pump. and YES honda does want you to replace that joint pump in conjunction, if the jobs under warranty the parts kit will come with a new pipe, however when im doing it customer pay, all the customer usually buys is just the injectors. Your the first ive ever seen install them into the rail them slip that as an assembly back into the head, hell i might try that myself next time. i usually silicone s[ray the outside of the injectors, slip them into the head, grease that o ring on the outside of them, and then install the pipe on top of them.

Hello, I'm happy all went well. The metal clips that exist above the injector yet below the fuel rail must be replaced as their purpose is to put pressure on the injector ensuring a good seal once the fuel rail is torqued. You replaced them great. Good for HONDA to send them with the injectors. The metal fuel line that connected the high-pressure pump to the two fuel rails should always be replaced anytime any of the retainer nuts are loosened. The reason is the surface of the fuel line is polished and reusing the line may result in a second kiss line being created when the retaining nuts are torqued. Because of the extremely high fuel pressure a second kiss line may cause a leak. Warranty pays for a new line and because warranty buys a new line when they pay for the job, I sell a new line when I do the job. I was surprised the Teflon seal on the tip of the injectors did not have to be sized before installing. By sized I mean made smaller. Thank you for letting me observe. Take care.

I did this same job on a 2017 ridgeline. same symptoms and DTCs. Anyhoo. I used RockAuto stuff (at the owner's request) and when reinstalling the super curvy fuel line it came with some liquid that was for use when torquing the nuts to the fuel line. I'm pretty sure this liquid was a mixture of unicorn tears and fairy dust. but the pressure built perfectly and no leaks. so all good. I also replaced the upper and lower intake gaskets because I didn't want any vac leaks. This honestly isn't a bad job all in compared to some of the honda jobs. but totally agree the PCM cover was the worst part, Final point. howcome they label a part that'll only fit one way with a toward fuel pump but something that'll fit 7 different ways is blank!

Fuel injectors need maintenance and or replacing just like anything else on a vehicle. Pulled the injectors out of my 6 cyl Honda motorcycle engine and had them professionally disassembled and cleaned and wow what a difference in idle quality and engine smoothness under power. 2 were ok 3 were really bad. I was reminded of way back in the day getting the carbs synced and having an increase in idle quality and power smoothness. Nice vid thank you!

Honda tech here. We do these all the time. There are warranty extensions/bulletins for these. It happens on the 1. 5T accord and CR-V as well. Any misfire code or rich code. Check ST fuel trim. If it s rich - Injectors! Very rarely it can also end up as a lean condition but I ve only seen it maybe 2 times.

When the first Tacomas with GDI first came out in 2016 I had a couple that came in with the same issue. High pressure fuel pressure deterioration is how they outline to diagnose it was well. then a borescope to see which cylinder is wet. Nice of Honda to sell the set

I believe those rubbers over each injector is for noise reduction. Appears Hondu placed a lot of Engineering into noise reduction for both injectors and valve train. My 2017 Chrysler 200 2. 4L sounded like a sewing machine since new.

I can't believe you're using silicone grease on the fuel system. Do you realize what that's going to do the catalytic converter! People like you should lose your ASE certification and be ran out of town. Avoca deserves better.

11: 30 Honda designed their GDI system and mounted the GDI injectors in a manner such that fuel comes into contact with the intake valves. Honda uses solenoid style GDI injectors instead of the much more expensive piezo injectors.
