Toyota Tacoma: Fuel Injectors Leaking Gas

Toyota Tacoma: Fuel Injectors Leaking Gas Bill: As a DIY hacker, I'm always jealous over Pros' access to service data on something like this. But, I've leaned to carefully take things apart so that I understand how they go back together again. Those extra o-rings were a red herring for sure. I've also learned to try to make things go together easily and sensibly. If something doesn't look right, it probably isn't. I'll bet this was a customer effort, which I applaud, but maybe just a bit more attention to detail.

I like that grabber tool for picking up dropped parts do you know what kind it is? looks nicer than the usual ones with just a button on back.
reminds me of my Subaru i got back after they changed the engine it had a rattling noise so i look around, they did the classic throw the nuts and bolts on the shelf with windshield wipers I hope they were extras and not missing from something important LOL.

It's hard enough to diagnosis issues on unmolested vehicles. It's especially difficult when some dingdong's fingers add to the calamity of the situation. You gotta be a forensics investigator/detective sometimes when you're fixing vehicles. Eric's a regular Quincy ME, especially after the use of the medical forceps to retrieve that injector spacer! Cheers!

Even if Toyota often gets it so very wrong at least they do WAY better than say Jeep or anything made by all the failed versions of Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Damlier, Stellantis, or the next unlucky company to save them from bankruptcy. So it could be worse. You could be working on a Jeep.

My Tacoma marker lights and dash lights would come on when I stepped on the brakes. And what I did to fix it was put a new trailer light harness in my truck.
What was causing the back feed was at the plug in there was a bunch of crap all around the wires that connected to the plug.

Great job Mr. O. You even got the job done before the snow melted off the wiper area lol. I am a small engine mechanic, and I know all to well what it's like working on stuff that some ding dong has been in there before you. Cheers!

Looks like a DIY job gone wrong and the guy knew he got in over his head and had the sense to bring it to a pro before the car caught fire. At least I hope so, because if that was another shop s work we ll, just yikes.

Just changed my injectors on my 01 Tacoma. Sure enough the O ring tweaked inside the rail and caused a leak. Re installed with some Vaseline on the rings and no issues. Because everything is better with lube

Anybody else get that nerve twinge when Eric held that bolt with the grabber over the open intake?
Nice that the prior left the uninstalled pieces next to their original location.

Ok, injectors, fuel rail and the o-rings. Notice of smell and visible residue when the weather gets cold. No symptoms when it's warm. Plausibility of leaking seals when cold?

I remember when I thought it was pretty awesome that we got a speed rewinderso so you could watch a video and Rewind a tape at the same time in a separate device.

Almost everyone has access to camera for DIY people take pics as you take apart the parts, then you will have ability to re assembly the problem.

People messing around with things they know nothing about.
The owner should have bought a pack of oem seals / gaskets, worth the money.

Perfect! A new SMA video for lunch! Loved the brake light fix. The last person that worked on this needs to watch some SMA vids!

My relative had a check engine light flashing. I changed her bad coil pack. She was shocked that her Toyota had to be fixed.
