Supposedly The GM Dealer Could Not Fix This? I bet the dealers TPMS tool was either not working correctly or it was picking up stray signals and/or interference from something else that was transmitting close by. It's very easy to just assume that your TPMS tool is always working correctly and think that there's a problem with the vehicle when in fact your tool is just broken.

I know this guy didn t have to pay but in general people will pay at least 2x more at the dealership and get worse service. It didn t use to be that way. Dealership service departments used to be the gold standard. I never ever get service done at dealerships unless it s for recall work. I don t even get warranty work done there unless it s for something major and expensive. I ll do the job myself and pay for the warrantied part myself. That s how much I distrust dealership service departments.

I do not know what it is like in the US, In Dartmouth Nova Scotia I was at the Toyota dealer getting a oil filter. I seen one tech driving a customer car he did not look old enough to drive a car. Trouble today all the older guys are retired and that is what is working on your brakes and safety systems on your vehicle. I find this younger crowd have a attitude that they know everything scary.

Curious, is this the same Chevy dealer that misdiagnosed that truck a while back that just needed a ground strap, not a new power steering, TCM, and trailer brake control module? And mis programmed a radio (maybe in an Envoy) a while back, and couldn't diagnose a bad DEF heater in a truck about 6 or 7 years ago? Seems to be a pattern.

I think you need to go around the area teaching these dealers what to do when someone comes in with a problem. Never mind then you wouldn't make any money and make them look like dumba es. If I would of been you I wouldn't of been able to help it when I signed off I would have said remember if i can do it Chevy can't do it Hahaha

It must have just been a bad connection or something and they fixed it without realizing when they reinstalled the module. They probably just didn't re-check the TPMS after they gave up and put it back. You'd think that they'd have checked the TPMS once they realized that key fobs were suddenly working.
reply

They never even touched it. They won't waive a 1500 fee. The dealership left it setting outside and never pulled it indoors. This place should be called out on this. Can't believe their name is getting hidden to save their reputation. This is why auto mechanics get a bad rap
reply

What kind of dealers do you have there? This crap that your dealers say they can t figure out or just hack and rip off the customer is crap I do everyday at a dealership. No wonder dealerships have a bad rep. They make us all look bad. Even the ones that are good.
reply

They put the 18yo lot attendant/tire changer kid on it. Never reprogrammed after installing the new module. Then again after reinstall of old module. Check for greenies at the harness/ module connector. Clean, verify good connection and lock, ship it.
reply

Dealer Tech wasn't too bright, and likely wasted an hour, but managed to restore the FOB by unplugging and replugging that Module. So the Dealer claimed they threw 1500 at it, but they would be nice and waive it, if he give them 150 and would go away

What's hanging from the windshield? My guess is somewhere the truck is getting a RF interference from something. We had issues on the early systems with garage door openers and remote start fobs. I guess I'm hoping the dealer didn't go down that hole.
reply

If I had to guess this is probably just a case of the bad connection they unplugged it and plugged it back in multiple times making better connection and never try to relearn it afterwards evident by the remote door lock starting working
reply

Don't know why driving the truck for two years with the service system light on, the owner would suddenly decide it needed fixed. My son has the same truck and every time you slam the door it either fixes or develops a new problem. LOL
reply

Eric, you are either an incredibly intelligent diagnostician, which you probably are, or the owner took the vehicle to be serviced at the dumbest Chevy service department.
I'm betting on you every time.

reply

Bad connection at the module? When they removed and reinstalled it made a better connection? Idk seems odd, and there is no way a dealer would forgive 8 hours of labor, lol. Something s not adding up.
reply

Feel bad for the dealer? Charged the customer 150. 00 for absolutely nothing? Why did he pay anything? They didn't fix the issue, didn't diagnose the problem, they don't deserve a cent.
reply

Sounds like whoever worked on it didn t know or bother to reprogram the sensors or fab after installing new receiver. whoever is working at that dealership must of lied on their resume
reply

i would be going back to that dealer to get a refund because they can not even do their job properly, how the hell did they spend 8 hours trying to fix it, how dissapointing.
reply

I've only owned one vehicle with TPMS, but why do some make it so difficult? It seems like everyone should adopt the drive a mile or so and the car figures it out by itself system.
