Compare the best new & used car deals with Carwow: This is the Land Rover Defender 130! It’s an 8-seat behemoth that's one of the most imposing cars you can buy in 2024. What’s more, it’s super popular, with over 110, 000 bought worldwide in 2023 alone! The thing is, it doesn’t exactly come cheap. The edition we have here comes with a supercharged V8, and it costs around 117, 000! So why is it so popular Well for starters, let’s check out the design. As we said, it’s superimposing, and it just has a real presence on the road. The V8 edition comes with 22 alloys, and we think the large overhang at the rear for the 3rd row of seats looks pretty smart. The boxy design makes it instantly recognisable as a Defender, and what’s more, step around the back and you’ll find a set of 100% real quad tailpipes! The engine is a real dream too. It’s powered by a 5-litre Supercharged V8, and this is good for 500hp. It’s super responsive and it sounds absolutely raucous both inside and out. There’s no sign of a soft limiter here! However, it’s not all good. The interior is pretty well laid out, but there are lots of scratchy and cheap-feeling materials throughout the cabin. What’s more, the infotainment system isn’t exactly the best, either. You may think these are minor things, but when you consider that it comes with a six-figure price tag, is it really worth it You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself! When everything is electric You have to be kidding, right The price of second-hand electric cars has dropped like an anvil falling off the Empire State Building. The easily led public has finally woken up to the tremendous milk float con. Car rental company Hertz announced earlier this year that it is selling 20, 000 EVs, and according to Bloomberg reports, Hertz has decided to cut back on EV rental cars because of high repair costs and weak customer demand.
Furthermore, charging your milk float is more expensive than filling your humble ICE conveyance, and you get far from the same range as an ICE car. Then you have the eye-watering purchase cost, but please don't get me started on recharging times for your milk float, that is, if you can find an accessible charging point or one that isn't broken. It seems to me Matt Twatson is part of the cabal to curtail man's Right to travel without let or hindrance by lumbering us with the electric con car. Despite Matt Twatson's efforts to fool the public into believing that ICE cars will soon be discontinued, I'm glad to confidently say that the public worm has turned, and they are not buying it. ICE cars will be here long after Matt Twatson has shuffled off his electric coil.

Went with my dad to collect his new Jaaaaag (he's 80) at the West London Jaguar. So there was every type of Range / Land Rover to check out. I'm not gonna lie - after hearing Mat and other reviewers talk about how luxurious and Rolls Royce like these cars are inside. it's really disappointing. Plastics felt cheap in places on the full-fat Range Rover in the front. And in the back there was some nasty feeling plastic things stuck on the back of the front seats - where you can put a magazine or tablet or something. felt like something from a Ssyanyong or whatever.
The Range had nice soft seats though. And they all look great. But, yeah. Ignoring looks and status - there's way better options for that dough.
The RR Sport was the most disappointing in terms of interior feel, Defender second best and full-fat RR was the best inside.

TATA should make Defender more basic & affordable. They should have a micro Defender similar in size to a 5 door Jimny, a Defender sport similar size as the OG, & the current Defenders but with more barebones/basic trims. They should also get rid of the Evoque & Velar & bring back the Rover brand. Rover could compete with the likes of VW & Peugeot & have a line up that comprises of a city car (replacement of the Metro, new 25, 45, & 75 all with street wise versions (higher ground clearance & cladding) & replacement crossovers of the Evoque/E-Pace, I-Pace, & Velar/F-Pace.

In what world is 5. 4 seconds not quick Let's ignore the size of this, or the bank emptying fuel economy - 5. 4 seconds is quick by any standards. No car NEEDS to accelerate that fast yet we're chasing the 0-60 figures as electric power gives Motorsport performance on the road, and the ICE models are feeling like they have to keep up.
5. 4 seconds is quick in any car. It's silly quick in a family car. And it is frighteningly fast in a car like this.

I was following a 130 last night, travelling through the New Forest. I would not consider it to be a slow vehicle. It's very imposing on the road and is ideal for the countryside it was travelling in. Please do not think that a Land Rover and a Range Rover can be compared, they are aimed at 2 distinctly different buyers.

I drive a 110 defender d300 and it’s a great car, I’ve used it for light off road driving. It’s an everything car, it’s a family car, an off roadster, a workhorse, a luxury car and a van.
Anyone who can’t see why this car works has been reading too many Daily Mail hatchet jobs.

Vehicles are too bloody heavy these days, I remember when weight saving and Crash Compatibility’ used to be a thing, seems like we’ve abandoned that completely. God help anyone in a regular Car that gets hit by one of these bloated monstrosities, or any obese Electric Car.
reply

why does anyone need a 500bhp v8 suv, if you can afford one of these you deffo have another car to go along side it. If it a family car you are not going to be doing 0-60 pulls because the kids will be sick. Personally I think it’s pointless but that’s just me.
reply

Why The best hardcore suv that can do everything and has one of the last real engines that are produced in Europe, just a few reasons, but there are more. yes and it fits the whole family and much more, looks amazing and is a great car overall too.

When are Land Rover gonna release a 130 truck cab so I can put a tipping box on for a chipper Or nigh cap pickup
Simple answer is never, because Land Rover has forgotten its base roots and is chasing new money not working money.

The scratchy’ panel on the dash isn’t plastic, it’s actually magnesium. The materials in it are generally pretty good.
I’ve had a look at some of the E-tron & BMW stuff of similar price points and they aren’t great

I love landrovers and I’m quite prepared to pay 10k more for a reliable one, because that’s all it would cost to make it landcuiser reliable why can’t Land Rover see this, and make one of the greatest cars in the world.
reply

Cheap materials in that car are designed to be easy to clean without damaging the material, are were also gonna complain there is no alcantarra on the foot wells also and carbon fiber in the ashtray
reply

8: 07 Matt you are literally using it wrong it’s the right hand dial and the selection also comes up in the drivers dash board so a quick glance down like you would your Speedo or fuel read out
reply

It doesn't need to be the fastest thing in the road this obsession with turbo charging had robbed us off some really awesome V8s. I had one of these in traffic the other day gaddam sounds good.
reply

I still stand on that it’s too boring to be a successor to the OG boxy defender. It’s like if fords real bronco looked like the bronco sport I don’t think this defender looks that cool
reply

Dont like the look of it, 110 much better. Engine sounds nice though. I was going to get a defender and went for the Ineos instead and after 8 months and 10k miles absolutely love it
reply

Looks like Land Rover raided the parts bin in Halfords and found some hideous aftermarket exhaust tips. Shocking. Tells you a bit about Matt's taste as well. He likes them god help him.

Called wank tanks in Australia, cause every toss pot with a little money, thinks they have to own one, for status. even though they never see any off road and break down continuously.
reply

I don't get peoples logic 100 grand on land rover it's totally fine but people raised they're eyebrows on toyota land cruiser charging same price. People with more money than brain I guess.
