The Carwow Black Friday sale is now live: The time has come for Mat to say goodbye to his Audi RS7 Performance. He's been running it for the past several months, and to be fair, it's put in some serious miles. From the new AMG C63 through to a 458 Speciale and even an Ioniq 5 N, the RS7 has been a star in several drag races. But then again, when it's equipped with an almighty 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 630hp and 850Nm, it's no surprise that it's been inclcuded in so many drags! But thankfully, there is a more than adequate replacement lined up. Taking the place of the RS7 is a Porsche Boxster Spyder RS! The Spyder RS is powered by the same glorious motorsport-derived 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six as you’ll find in the GT4 RS, 911 GT3 & GT3 RS. It sounds absolutely incredible, and it puts down 500hp and 450Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 7-speed PDK automatic gearbox. It’s absolutely epic! The question is, what should Mat line-up against in his next drag race

Replacing cars for new isn't that hard as you all imagine. Most of the automakers will gladly take your old 6 months old car towards new one and it's doesnt cost a fortune. My brother isn't milionaire and three years go he got himself new Renault Zoe then two years ago he swapped it for Honda Jazz and last year he swapped it for Toyota Yaris Hybrid. He's mid level manager earning only 3000 pounds pcm

Audi is one of a kind like me AudiMan. Brilliant bit of kit. Matt Watson good luck with the New Daily. The future of Audi with EVs and PheVs are fantastic. One for The RS 7 Performance. Interior/Exterior Design 9/10. Power Unit 9/10. Performance 9/10. Overall Score 99/100. Any 911 including the GT 3 and GT 3 RS are daily drivers. Not a 718 or Boxster.

Yea this is the next best thing after GT3RS BUT. there no point in having both. I think we would be more interested in a Panamera & Cayenne Turbo or GTS, Audi S8, RSQ8, New S5 or the new A6, S or E klass AMG, GLE or GLC coupe AMG or 45, X6M etc. There are a lot of daily sport cars you can show us instead of a GT3RS stripped down car.

The New Tesla model Y Jupiter Performance edition will be much better for the environment and your wallet! You will just have to drive a little slower around corners which is a better compromise than losing 64 cubic feet of interior space! For a daily driver, the Porsche sucks the big wanker!

Interesting move this. Replacing a comfy saloon car with a cloth top two seater in November. Typical German car though, expensive to start with and everything is a cost option. Nine grand for a bit of carbon fibre and some badges seems ludicrous. And that roof design - oh dear.

The constant talking about noise in the 4RS doesn't make any sense. If the 4RS is held in a lower gear and run at part throttle its as quiet as my 992 T under normal driving situations. Only if you leave it in auto and run around at part throttle does it have resonance.

Doesnt work in the UK, great engine, this just isnt a daily driver on any level. The only way it would be less of a daily driver is if it wasnt road legal, which it wouldnt be if it were mine because id straight pipe it to hear that immense exhaust.

Nice to see you taking on a sensible practical family car as a daily driver
Do you justnrick up to a Porsche garage & say hi I'm Matt & I want a Porsche for 6 months as a test drive.
I'm going to try that next week

how its your daily drive if you need loud exhaust farting thing and speeding from 0-100 in 3 sec is that daily driving this guy is like child! daily driving is something comfortable. like bmw 530 or x5. merecedes e class or gle!

Can't lie. The rs7 was much better, and the skoda wasn't even bad. It would be a better day to day driver than a porsche. Don't get me wrong, porsche are fun cars but not daily cars.

i remember the time carwow and mat asked for donations to support their content. turns out it was for replacing their daily, weekend, track, offroad vehicles every six months

The question is why is he running a super car as a daily driver is it for the comedy value
The majority of people will not own cars like this. just sell-out, for clicks BS

10 years later:
Matt's daughter - Daddy can you drop me to school
Matt - Sorry honey. You would have to take the bus, i am still trying to get this roof off.

RS7 aircon can sync by pinching on the lower screen. Just touch finger and thumb anywhere and ping together and it syncs both sides to match the drivers settings

Will be interesting to see how he feels about the Spyder in a few months. Quite a jump from a quiet luxury barge A7 to a noisy high strung Porsche as daily driver.
reply

Soooooo the RS7 is quicker, more practical, gets better mpg, cheaper in price and maintenance, still a VAG car, and has a V8. Hard to pick the better car tbh.

why the soft top! it just looks terrible. same with the R8 you have a soft top on it as well and it looks horrific. why do it to the porsche as well

I really don’t understand, why in the UK you can put a child seat in the front, but in most countries you cannot. Are the cars safer there
