Actually. Sam can blame the car, and it should. The 1. 8 supercharged engine had a known problem with the cogs that activated the variable valve timing of that engine, and that pitching noise was coming from the timing chain, most probably. In addition, since the variable valve timing didn't work properly (or at all, the car was stuck somewhere between eco and I don't care about your race mode. So yeah.
On the other hand, that two-liter bimmer engine had more than 140 hp in reality. BMW used to cheat and declare lower output values for tax reasons. The Audi was honest. and anyway, slower than the bimmer. Nice drag race, though. never care about if the diffs are going to explode or the engine will shoot a piston out.

As a owner of a Mercedes CLK320 petrol w208, and a e46 330i in witch i changet 3 suspensions and front Myle HD arms, rear poly bushing, i can truly tell you, that i olmost dont drive the e46 at all, because of that bad suspension witch had only comfort, and no responsiveness.
As youbcan see in this video, is lke a gelly of a car.
But the clk and generally Mercedes, really have an amazing suspension setup. The way that they designed those wishbones, and how the body weight of the car is distributed over the tires, all the time makes me so confident to drift it almost at every corner. And the Audi, is a proper good car, with the best gearshifter from all this 3 tested here.

Greetings from Czech republic, love your videos! I had an audi a4 b6 2. 0 FSI 150hp as my first car. It is much more comfortable to drive than the e46 for daily driving. E46 has a hard chassis and it is a good car for a weekend but not daily and not everyone can drive rear wheel drive. Only downside of the audi is the understeer.
My opinion on these cars: They are classic and i like all 3 of them. Basic maintenance is okay, but when it comes to repairs. They are expensive. If you want an older car I would rather recommend you to buy Skoda octavia mk1 with 1. 9tdi and you will have almost zero problems with repairs and good fuel consumption.

You forgot the Mercedes has a 2. 0 Supercharged variant, which would make the race more equal. And also why on earth do you think those wheels are that horrible Doesn't wider tire means better traction And also more poking tires just give it a wider look, more aggressive on most cars. Even if it's just wide tire, it looks better. You are 100% biased against Mercedes ffs. The wood trim is my favorite, classic cars hit different for real.

19: 27 - no, its not to prevent someone getting in from the boot. the manual says its to lock your valuables in the boot and giving only the keyfob without the physical key to the valet - and activate a 'valet mode' - which is an option with a button in the glovebox that disables the boot release. I doubt anyone buys that option! Or you can manually enable it in the OBD etc. LOL.

I own 2004 Audi A4 Avant 1. 9 TDI with 540 000km on the clock and still runs beautifully. The roof lining is still perfect condition. The fuel consumption is incredibly light. I managed to get 5 litres per 100 km. And the motor is bulletproof proof. Only thing is expensive is maintenance. The suspension is beautifully equipped for the wagon. And yes it's front wheel drive.

Actually that heater dial on the BMW is quite ingenious. Because maybe it is hot so you want to cool the car but still want some warmth on you you turn that dial and your car gets cooled but your fans at your hands and face are still warm so it is cozy. Especially for example in rainy weather conditions this is nice.

Apparently CW couldn't find a MB with smaller engine. While you were at it, why not remove the SC and put 400kg bricks in the trunk!
So BMW was cheating with their HP figures way back in the early 2000. well, how 'bout that!
If Audi would have been RWD it would keep up with the Bimmer pretty well!

Having owned two of these three cars i wouldn't own either brand again, had a 130 tdi audi, so dull, traded it for a clk 230k, terrible reliability and expensive to maintain, for 1k, not bad value for a shed of the week i suppose.

That is not fair for Mercedes it needs some maintenance also it is clearly the previous owner of it is does not did any of this if it possible I want from u to fix misfiring and other issues then repeat drag race rollin race and 0-60

It’s simply not fair to put a facelifted E46 in good condition against a Pre-facelift Classic W203 and especially with a broken engine.
Probably because bmws are worth less you could only get that.

I disliked the video just because you take broken Mercedes to the test. And Mercedes got big wheels from older AMG which slow it down because they are heavy and big.

Lol the mercedes is the fastest. i had the c180 kompressor too and smoked both. this benz was broken or his driver is a totally noob and need to be replaced!

For me the Audi can't compete with the Beamer and the Benz. A beater (for me) has to be rwd. so you can weld the diff and do some funny stuff with it
