I currently own a 3 series BMW and I-ve only ever owned BMWs, that is to say E36 and E90 models. I-ve driven the E34 330ci, an E60 M5 (wow) and the E63 635d. I also got taken out for a -spin- by a Royal Navy lynx helicopter pilot in a LHD E30 M3 once (which was an interesting experience) I consider myself to be bit of a BMW fan but I have to say, the atrocious wheels, the hideous red leather, the tacky carbon fibre trim and the fake piped-in engine noise all leave me totally cold with this car. Really, really not my cup of tea AT ALL. I genuinely think if you offered me this car, I-d refuse. I really don-t get the same buzz for the recent offerings in the F30 line up.

The competition pack in Germany comes with 3 wheel options, two 20- and one 19- (basically the same 20- you see here just one is black the other is silver. Personally i think i will go for the 19's since it will be a daily and a bit more comfortable. However being a M car, the brakes can be like butter on track days. the ceramic option is tempting but replacements are super expensive.

Totally agree about the exhaust. My dad's friend has that M3, however, he went and got a custom exhaust made (wish I could post a pic of entire exhaust, beautiful welding) And it sounds epic! Like seriously, seriously good. Sounds nothing like the stock one. Definitely worth paying for. Besides, if you have 62grand to buy a car then an exhaust is penny's to you lol

I LOVE bmws and especially the M3 but the exhaust is thrash: (
You need an aftermarket exhaust if you want it to sound good
I have a white one with the same int spec and the best driving selection is
Steering wheel - comfort and everything else on sport+ (in my opinion)

Huh - so the Tesla model 3, in it's non-performance version, is the same speed as a competition pack M3. And it's cheaper than the BMW. Just imagine what the model 3 will be like once the dual-motor ludicrous mode version is available. Bye bye, bmw.

Stay away from DCT in these cars. Get yourself a manual and you'll have a lot more fun. I've driven both and the manual is hands down the more fun option. Plus it will appreciate in the longer term as BMW have stopped offering manual for M3.

The Alfa lol. Turns out 4 years on the Alfa is as predicted totally unreliable as all Alfa-s before. I have owned my M3 for 5 years and can-t find anything to replace her. 40 thousand miles and not missed a beat.

Great review, I don-t agree with your comments on the sound of it though. My 2018 Competition sounds fabulous. But I acknowledge we all have different tastes but I also have an E63 M6 with that glorious V10!

Why would you buy this car when you can have 1000x better with a Tesla! Faster, better autopilot, more entertainment, no gas cost, no pollution, no servicing. GET A FREAKIN TESLA!

Just curious, does a normal school teacher in uk could afford this car? Cause it only cost 62, 000pound. As In malaysia, normally a teacher could afford honda jazz for rm62000.
