The Arteon is a huge disappointment, at least in the US. The fact we get a derated 2. 0T engine that lacks the Port AND direct injection, sucks. We also get a boring Aisin 8-speed automatic instead of VW-s phenomenal DSG. But the real problem is the interior that looks like a VW Passat from 2006. The climate control and MIB infotainment are identical to every other VW. The steering wheel also looks out of place as it too is from the base Golf. They should-ve at least put the flat bottomed wheel from the GTI in it. At over $45K, it-s price is far too high considering what you-re getting. I wish they would have brought back the Touareg instead of the Arteon.

The fun fact is that both in UK are 33, 000 price while British people salary is good. Cooompared to this in my country -Bulgaria, both are expensive and not in same price. Arteon 80, 000 for automatic gas 4xr and diesel is cheaper I think maybe 55-60 000 BGN. A5 is 100 000 quatro gas automatic: /. So what's the point Bulgarians to have hard school methods of learning and teaching if we go fckin study abroad and in the end specialists rear come back. Abroad I m foreigner but specialist foreigner with good salary and car: /////

As lovely as the Arteon is it's not really surprising the Audi A5 wins overall. The Arteon is a beautiful looking car but is let down by the Passat Interior especially when being of a similar price to the Audi. Had they upped their game; they could've beat the Audi A5 on all fronts. Still there is another Arteon in the works; maybe they'll get the interior right next time!

VW has a HUGE bage problem; few people want a luxury-ish 'people's car', no matter what they do. All people look for in a VW is the comfort and reliability but if they can find those same values somewhere else they walk away, just look at Skodas eating the lunch of pretty much all their vw siblings, because theyre cheaper and look better.

I drove in a arteon once same color as the one in the review and man must say it's very fast it pushed me back in my seat having the R line only thing is being a 2l it doesn't really have a exhaus sound the sound gets push through its speakers.
But I will go for the arteon

hahaha. in the end the person also admits. people usually feels AUDI are better due to its brand name. VW is just as good, but because it's VW but not AUDI. if you switch logo between two cars. I guarantees everyone would go for the Arteon (with Audi logo on it. hahahahaha.

When I saw the Passat CC the first time I felt Volkswagen is on the right way. How much better is the progress design of the VW Artego.
The design of the Audi looks a bit boring, like almost every Models of Volkswagen Branches, except Artego, Panamera and Amarok

Space and value are gonna be my main priorities, VW is well known for the superior build and safety, personally the Arteon is gonna turn twice the amount of heads in my place as it's filled with plenty of Audi A3s A1s decent amount of A6s and a hand full of Q3s

I just got an Arteon I would love to have an A5 but in USA those two vehicles are not even close price wise.
the other thing that bothers me is the fact that both brands share so much technology that is hard to justify the extra cost specially in maintenance.
