This is the Suzuki Celerio. It-s a tiny car, but with one huge selling point - it's one of the cheapest new cars available for sale in the UK. Prices start from just under -7500, but does the price come at the expense of quality? Is it worth putting on your shopping list, or would you be better off spending a little extra on a Hyundai i10 or Volkswagen Up? Find out in my full, in-depth review

We actually own a Celerio. The AC is just barely powerful enough. The stereo is rubbish. The build quality is rubbish. It isn't anywhere near as economical as they claim (what car is. I'm 6'1 and 15 stone and i'm pressed up against the B pillar and door in all 4 main seats. It suffers like the Alto before it from weak engine mounts which can be made to fail simply by accelerating too hard. It makes weird noises occasionally which then go away and never return. It ABSOLUTELY REEKS of petrol when starting unless it's a hot restart. All these issues are on a two year old car with about 14000 miles on it. The wheelarch liners being missing are one part of a complete lack of rust protection on the car. Do not expect this car to last a long time. It will rust away like 1970s vauxhalls.
If you buy the cheapest car you can find every 3 years and then part ex it in on a new one when it starts needing MOT etc then the Celerio isn't bad. If you can get one for DIRT CHEAP the Celerio isn't bad. It is okay to drive and ours hasn't actually broken down yet, neither have any of the last 5 Suzukis we've kept for 3 years. It's a fairly competent cheap shopping trolley and work car/dog walker that isn't horrendous on the motorway. Having air conditioning is lovely in a base model vehicle. Even if it isn't very powerful. Having proper windows that actually open in the back doors on a base model city car is great. You can fit an Ikea Markus high back office chair in the back with the seats down. That was a bloody impressive surprise and almost enough for me to not hate the little tin shitbox anymore.
I really want a Skoda Citigo E but you can buy two and a bit Celerios for what one of those costs.

I purchased a celerio in May 2020 from a dealer 11k on the clock and I love it. I use it as a work town car and recently just added - L - plates on it and teaching my daughter to drive. lovely light modern car lovely clutch and excellent mpg. all round a very good buy indeed. . Ow the the rattle the review was on about. its the brake pads in the calipers moving about. Strip down and clean up. no nonsense motoring. ow free road tax as well.

I've owned my Celerio for 4 years now and have had 0 problems with it, it's THE most frugal car I've ever owned and on a long run ( ie Derbyshire to Scotland which we have done twice ) the car averages 76. 5 mpg. Apart from oil changes and fluid top ups ( it hasn't needed the coolant topping up in FOUR YEARS since new ) it hasn't cost me a penny, it's still on the original tyres and brake discs and pads: )

Just bought this car as it was all I could afford. I think this review is a bit harsh, it's a cheap car yes, gets me from a to b, its roomy, nippy, and half the stuff you complain about it just silly! Perfect for my small family and living in the town. Bit of a snob if you ask me! By no means my dream car, but it's most certainly not the worst car, performance wise and style wise!

Got one as a courtesy car today. I'm afraid it's horrible, and I'd buy any one of a large number of used cars before this. Including a nearly-new Swift or Ignis.
Which may explain why Suzuki have seen fit to discontinue it in the UK. Everyone did what I would do.

I drive a celerio. ZXi variant with electronic side mirrors and power shutters with kenwood stereo system. You didn-t say anything about fuel efficiency. It does 19 km per liter
