I thought this debate was all but settled. Lexus vehicles are generally more reliable but at the cost of being a bore to drive compared to their German rivals. I also noted that you said the car you featured was standard trim. I don't know about the UK but certainly not stateside. Here the vehicle you featured would include the Executive package at an added cost of nearly $18, 000 USD. That said, I used to drive Lexus vehicles exclusively but tired of their insistence in dictating how and when I could use accessories such as the navi system, even when a passenger was present. I've been driving the S450 for the past couple of years and there is simply no comparison left to be had.

EVERY Japanese car is better then german ones. Quality made, no malfunctions. I drive mercedes for 14 and half years by now, and it's the worse car in my life. I have changed 11 cars in my life. The german ones was the worse even then france ones. I owned a Mitsubishi, Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Every single one of the was was very reliable. Then I bought a german golf, problems accured immediately. Then, I bought mercedes and that was a nightmare. Malfunctions all the time. Abs, esp, bas, computer, transmission, all kind of sensors, even car door locks breaking down. Rust is everywhere. C classe didn't put any anticorrosion protection! Awfull german products!

It may be better, but lacks the style and heritage off a Mercedes my friend.
And thats why a Mercedes will fetch thousands or even millions when it becomes an old classic.
Something that Lexus will never become.

In terms of design and esthetic, Audi, BMW, MB are at their best in addition to ultra-luxury and performance. The Lexus has about 90% in these same areas but at their best in terms of reliability. I would buy a Lexus with 100, 000 miles or more. Manufacturers don't care about people and used cars anyhow. LOL This is just my opinion. :)

This machine just likes it-s previous generations will prove to be long lasting and always hold it-s value over it-s German rivals. If you want reliable luxury in the second hand market, this is the car, but be prepaired to pay because it will serve you well and you will sell it on ten years later and get your money back!

Good alert on car blindly following the one in front. Other issue to anticipate is the car reacting to a slower car in adjacent lanes and slowing for no reason. Like my Civic does.
I hope these Lexus safety nannys are less overdramatic than my '16 Camry's nannys. That car is scared of its environment at all times.

lol at all the American peasants saying they'd buy this car because it lasts for decades. If you're the sort of person with money to buy cars in this bracket, you get a new car every year or every second year. You don't buy executive cars and keep them for a decade. It'd look old and outdated alongside the new cars.

I wanted to buy this car for my father but unfortunately, the styling is -Too Sporty-. The previous models are good for a 50-70 years old grandfather, but this one is absolutely not. Now I have to switch to the other competitors Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes even though I know that Lexus is way more reliable.

Lexus has been the most dependable/reliable brand for like the past 30 years. It was surpassed only by Genesis last year and people are still maintaining this myth that Germans are better, like seriously? The current generation interiors are like Bentley interiors for half the price!

I'm 32 have owned about 18 cars over the last few years and currently drive a vw diesel - which is an OK daily commuter but I'm tired of chucking money down the drain on french and german cars - ill be buying a lexus next- they just seem to be a far superior car all round.
