e46 m3 csl is a horrible car to launch well. the 6sp manual would have been a better choice. the e46 m3 is still the most complete practical performance car experience you can get for the money. I've owned them for the last 15 years, had oem, supercharged and turbocharged upgrades, but now I have a very slightly modified cs manual, and it makes me smile every time I drive it

RESCOPED
The E46 was driven incorrectly if it had to downshift after race start. Push the lever right once while in drive to go into manual mode, turn DSC off next to the sport button that should also be pressed, use the shift speed selector and set it to S6. Push selector lever forward to engage launch control, floor the gas pedal. Let off gas and then the lever.

E92 M3 GTS. it always reminds me that Valentino Rossi asked BMW to have one of these as reward for the last pole position that year. In fact he already got the standard M3 that year for the first pole of the year.

e36 CSL had an even worse start!
well yeah. cuz the e36 CSL doesnt exist mate: D It miracle how it even started, let alone to have a good or bad start: P: D
Jokes aside, the CSL should have been made with ONLY manual gearbox! Why they put this SMG I dont know. nobody like it!

The reason the e90 m3 is slow, isn't because its natural aspirated.
Its because its a road car and it needs to obey road car rules, for example it needs to idle properly, obey emissions laws, fuel economy. sound pollution ect.
Basically things that are slowing it down.

E46 was my favorite of these ones, but the E36 is my all time favorite car. Not sure why everyone hates on the SMG transmission. It's MADE for engine braking, and so you DON'T have to use clutch after engaging first gear. Should be faster, with proper technique

If E30 was Alpina B3 with 600Hp the rest wont have chance to win this drag race. I have E36i from 1991 still runs and perform better the the new cars. I always want the E30 M3 but there where to expensive back in the days.

The most impressive is the weight of the V8 compared to the 6line in the E46. I believe, but correct me if I-m wrong, the V8 is 20 kg lighter. That-s impressive.
