I had my 2017 MX-5 at the dealer's for a service a few months ago and they gave me an ancient Mazda 6 (2005/2006-ish) as a (free) rental for the day. When I returned to pick up my car, I checked out the current Mazda 6 because I really like the look of it and because I wanted to compare it to its ancestor. And it really was like stepping through a time-portal. The quality of the 6's interior is well and truly on another level. They're not quite up there with current BMWs or Audis, but they're getting awfully close. And considering Mazda's pricing and recent track record WRT reliability, I couldn't see myself getting an Audi or BMW over the 6 if it were my own money.

I have heard the diesels are prone to regen DPF dumping oil into the sump, this then turns into hard carbon, then the oil pick filter gets blocked, good bye engine. Reason I know this, it has just happened to my son's car. He and myself have rebuilt the engine, to do this we had to do a great deal of research, while doing this, we found there are lots of owners on the internet with the same problem. Another thing we found, lots of independent garages will not work on these engines.

Extremely disappointed with my Mazda 6 2017. I used to love this car until now when my car center console screen gave up at only 50, 000 miles. The screen starts to make random ghost selections with constant beeping noise. I read online and seems like alot of people had similar issues. Since the car is out of warranty it costs 1200$ for screen to be replaced. Not reliable and cheaply made. You get what you pay for.

I really like the Mazda 6 but to tell your viewers not to bother with the petrol models is really bad advice,
What about people that don-t do the miles to justify the diesel and the fact that the petrol engines are more reliable than the diesels I hate reviews like this which miss guide viewers, diesels have there place for the right people but petrol also has a place

My 2016 Mazda 6 has 70k miles and has gone through 4 OEM batteries, valve cover gasket is leaking, hydronic belt tensioner is
leaking, had a misfire and had to replace a leaking fuel injector, brakes wear out fast and front rotors warp extremely quick. I
wouldn't call that great reliability so far.

For me is a executive/beautiful car with a price of a normal car.
I have 1, 96m.
Its a shame I dont fit in drivers position in such generous size car.
I have lots of room for my head and knees in my Ford Mondeo.

Mazda is the perfect grey area. If you don't know what car to get and your still choosing drive a mazda in the mean time. The price/quality balance of mazda is the most perfect of most brands imo!

I don-t see this market-wise competing with BMW or Mercedes. The 6 is more for regular midsize sedan, more luxurious yes, but not competing with BMW or Mercedes. Despite this, this is an amazing car

Some mercedes cars don't have this much interior quality and they're still expensive as hell you're just buying the brand, I've been looking for a new car I think I might just consider a mazda 6

Hyundai so much better, way more space inside, more horsepower, more torque, heated seats in the back, panoramic sunroof, once again so much more space you can stretch out in the back of a sonata.
