Is the Hyundai i20 N the best small hot hatch you can buy in 2021? Well, Mat-s here to find out! For starters, let-s take a look at what you get with the N version of the i20. Upfront under the bonnet you-ll find a 1. 6-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which can deliver 204hp & 275Nm of torque. And just like the normal edition, it comes with a manual gearbox. But of course, that-s not all! There-s a whole load of styling updates both inside and out, including a whole new front bumper & special N grille, and even a roof spoiler (although the aerodynamic benefits remain to be seen-! What-s more, you even get a set of bespoke tyres designed just for this car. Let-s face it though, the i20 N has got some stiff opposition in the small hot hatch market, with the likes of the GR Yaris & Fiesta ST reigning supreme! So does it offer enough to be the must-have small hot hatch?

The fact it only comes in a 4 door is a instant no from me, I wish they made the i20N & i30N + the Fastback in 3 door, they will lose so many sales because people want a 3 door small car, people will choose the ST instead because it comes in 3 door, Ford have been really smart in keeping the ST as a 3 door or 4 door, seeing as the VXR brand is dead there wont be anymore VXR 3 door Corsa's, Audi have killed the 3 door S1, the new Polo GTi coming not sure if that will be 4 door only, only few brands making 3 door small hot hatch cars is the Toyota GR Yaris, Fiesta ST, Abarth 500, or a Mini JCW / GP.
Its a shame because so many cars are going crappy auto now yet here is Hyundai undercutting the German rivals with lovely cars, but not 3 door versions: ( they need to reliase that they would sell so many more, just look at how many 3 door Fiestas and Corsa's there is, i would buy a i30N Fastback if it came in 3 door. ive got a Corsa E VXR currently and its so fun to drive, yes the quality is shocking but its light, fast and nimble.

I think Matt mentioned it-s 0 to 60 was 6. 7 but it is actually 6 seconds ( 6. 2 to 100kph/62 mph official) which he wasn-t far off straight away, great content as usual and what a great little car - not many about - and a 5 year warranty -

If there's any car I wish I had the money for, it's this one. Even if I won $1M, this would be the car I'd buy. Hoping that it or a similarly brilliant future model is still around when I finish uni and get enough money.

Just wondering if any early adopters experience heavy wear on the seats or anywhere else? I checked out a demo car they had at my local dealer it only had 650km and the side bolster had significant wear on them.

I feel like it-s not a bad thing for a bit of unrefinement nowadays. Gives cars a bit more character as you can hear what they are doing, especially in a small sporty hot hatch. In a big merc probs not though.

I love my Hyundai hatch I've had 2 accents I know it's different but they morphed into this car! Wish we got the n of this in Canada we just get the N line. Can get the Veloster Kona and sonata N though

probably not due to a heavy flywheel but due to the throttle being fly by wire. There are aftermarket pedal controllers that people use to improve the response and get rid of the rev hang.

We don't get the Fiesta ST in the states anymore, and we never got the sweet ass 3 door version.
I would love one of these to maybe replace my FiST, but we don't get these either.

it is not pronounced -high-un-die- but more like -hyon-deh- I know it's almost impossible to pronounce it perfectly like a native Korean but I think -high-un-die- is a little far away.
