Honda civic isn't really a hatchback. its more like a mid size sedan (Sportback) that happens to have a hatchback style tailgate, like an Audi A7\RS7. its too big for this category in my opinion. So is the octavia although both are nice cars they aren't really hot hatches. they're too big. The civic is what the Americans think a small car is and it just really isn't in the rest of the world. I think the golf R really should've come on top and maybe added a few other vehicles like the Seat Leon Cupra or the Renault Megane also the Ford Focus RS if that is a 2019 MY car.

I have a theory as to why they didn't include Focus RS, because it is not comfortable enough for daily driving due to stiff suspension. It can be fast and fun but not an all rounder, the way a hot hatch should be. And as for Megane RS, I don't think it is not a good driver's car as it has been in previous generations. But I agree, these all deserve the 10th spot more than the Up GTI. They all look better than it, are faster, more fun and more practical.

Hold on, I get that this is a mix of cheap to expensive - but where is the a) expensive but impressive 306bhp mini clubman jcw or b) mini Cooper S, or JCW? They outperform most all the other cars on here, have bmw build quality and are absolutely guaranteed to give that hot hatch smile!

No rs3 or megane rs which are faster than all of the cars featured in this list. But ok you have the up gti. How a 3 cyl 1. 0 lt with 115 horses is even considered hot or fast.
