New Land Rover Discovery - have they fixed its uneven butt?

The Land Rover Discovery has been updated- And here it is! What-s that - you don-t think it looks that different to the old model! Well, you-d be right! Clearly the designers haven-t been all that busy, have they? That said, there are still a few notable changes, including an all-new infotainment system, coupled with a few minor design changes for the exterior. So it hasn-t changed much when it comes to the design, but at least there-s one area which has evolved from the previous model - the choice of engines! There are three to choose from, including a 3-litre 6-cylinder which can achieve 360hp and 60mph in just 6. 2 seconds- Not bad for a seven-seater! So what do you think - was it really worth Land Rover releasing a new version of the Discovery?

Not worth buying as most of the tech that matters is the same such trailer assist that's on the current Modal.
Also they stopped the petrol engine on the current modal and now bringing it back. But with a car like this you want it to be diesel for the torque etc as you would want to exploit the towing and off road capability.
I love petrol but with the disco I think diesel would be better.
Inside is just cosmetic changes so what about the grill and the deployable side steps are available on the sdv6 anyway, how much tech do you want, sometimes dials, buttons and knobs are better if you want to have the car and keep it for 10 or 15 years like people have with the old discos, you see them about still and seem to work ok.
The lights are led so what.
The activity key is not a new thing.
So overall just a few extra engines and some tech in side.
The current models are getting cheaper when you look and the best looking version is the dynamic trim on the exterior.

Thank goodness the old rotary gear selector has been replaced by a conventional gear lever. No more missing gears when shunting a trailer into a a tight space or turning around in a country lane, relegate the old tarts toy to the scrap bin. Still got the wonky tail gate though, Land Rover probably still think their design team are clever referring back to the days of the spare wheel bolted to the rear door, amazing that they don-t still hinge the door on the right, time to move on guy-s and get into the real world. Good to see the new technology in sat nav and entertainment etc and like the front end updates, overall an improvement but time to ditch the lop sided rear, the jokes wearing a bit thin.

Top 10 things you need to know about it:
1: It will fail to start and leave you stranded within 36 months of purchase - 4: 1 odds
2: Bits will fall off or fail to function, dashboard warning lights will mysteriously ping on and off - 3: 1 odds
3: The -lifestyle choice- is -frustration- for a brand that consistently finishes last in quality surveys
4: Some people will always roll a seven and those lucky few will defend the brand in the face of irritating facts
5-10: Whilst they make a poor choice new they make a cataclysmic choice used. Run away.

Nothing wrong with the set number plate looks great it-s part of discovery over many many years. It is a great design feature, but if you not into design you would not understand. This write up is not very correct, I have a 2018 model and it has a 12- digital dash and it has 29- wheels as standard. And other parts of the spec were around a few years back. Could I say if you are going to give comment make sure of all of the facts before hand.

Would any self-respecting farmer use this thing during lambing season? Of course not. It's a waste of money. So it's not a Land Rover.
Nope, it's just yet another Chelsea tractor with dinner party conversation toys that will never be used by rich wankers -on the school run- - and reviewed by wannabe comedians more comfortable poncing around in Lambos.
What a world.

What have they done to update the accessability and access for the severely disabled blind who use these cars as passengers or drivers? Why are you discriminating against disabled people in a car which is utilitarian. All adverts must now mention the disability adaptions and feature there use. This is 2021 not the dark ages of 2016-2020 its now a legal requirement.

Look awesome but my mate had a 2 yr old disco 68reg at time and driving it bk had engine management light come on & also needed new brake lines so was only able to drive it home then got it bk 3 wks later with them saying he had to pay 3k - hence he told them fk off they look great but reliability is piss poor for what you have to pay for them!

It's all about the design these days, ambient lights and cheap plastics everywhere.
Don't expect cars to last like they did 15-20 years ago.
I find it unacceptable to pay 70000$ for a car and receive one with faulty touch screen displays with glitchy software.
There so many complains about this in the US.

Just can-t believe that they didn-t take the opportunity to revise that tailgate design. The D5 also lost the stadium rear seats of its predecessors which is a real shame. I-ve spoken to a good number of Disco 4 owners who, like me, are not convinced about the D5 as a beneficial practical alternative to the D4.

The original Duscovery 5 was the reason for me to move away from Discovery ownership and on to a Full Fat Range Rover.
Sure, there are some updates here, but all of the fundamental flaws of this generation of Discovery are still there - it-s still not good enough -
