Well besides the point that the new S3 is -a little- quicker, which I think isn't a criteria to buy that car. I would definitely take the old S3. Because you want exhaust sound form a S-Model. Also in this case the sound has in my opinion more value than the minimal higher acceleration. Brake test also not a buy criteria, was a close call but not really a measurable difference.
So for me (besides the new technic) I also like the old headlights more. But you know, just my opinion

The engine in the new S3 is not as responsive as the old one because of the particle filter
If you want to make an (turbo) engine to be very responsive, you need to inject a lot of gas while turbo-boost (air) is at low levels. But injecting high amounts of fuel will damage the particle filter faster than usual. Therefore, enegines with tubo-charger and particle filter (gasoline and diesel) are less and less responsive, especially the EU6 ones.

That's not even enough difference to rule out manufacturing or age. If the old one has some mileage even a little carbon build up(which they are known for, it can equate for a couple horsepower. That's really all it would take for that little of difference. I'd say they are the same.

These EA888-based engines are USELESS when you first downshift them - even alarmingly and occasionally dangerously so. If you're thinking of getting one, make sure you're happy with this low-level performance. I quickly resold a Golf R because of it.

If I'm not mistaken this is exactly what happened between the old RS3 and the new RS3 and seeing the dyno charts showed us the scientific reasoning for what we saw in the drag races. Would have been cool to see the dyno charts of the S3s.

There's no way the 8Y with 130kg more weight will keep up with the identical power numbers on the 8V like that constantly. Sounds like Audi continues their trend of just lying though their teeth about the hp on their S models.

exposed metal on the door frames in an Audi and in any car that pretend to be premium is blasphemy. Audi is running a steep descent. starting with the full crap plastic dashboard on the A1.

Our VW also has a soft limiter but when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the left or right is revs up to the redline. kinda weird.
Maybe it works on Audi's and other cars?

The new S3 has better aerodynamic and the old S3 has better thortle respons because you know. Its older and there was not that hard emision rules. That Is the reason of differences
