This is the Volvo C40 Recharge! It-s effectively an all-electric version of the popular, petrol-powered XC40, and Mat-s on hand to see if it can compete fast-growing small electric SUV market! For starters, it clearly looks relatively similar to the XC40, although that-s no surprise given they-re built on the same platform! There-s no mistaking it for an EV, however, with a lack of exhausts at the back and a blanked-out grille upfront. Once you take a step inside, the same similarities are present, with the classic rectangular Volvo infotainment system upfront. So, not all that different to the XC40, but that isn-t exactly a bad thing! When it comes to performance, the range-topping C40 comes equipped with a 75kWh battery pack which is good for a claimed range of 274 miles. The dual-motor version can also produce 408hp. The only question is, can it justify the -45, 000 starting price? You-ll need to stick with Mat to find out! logtothebase2: I havean SC40 hybrid, and it sounds like it has some similar issues around the braking which feels odd and inconsistent with the transition from regenerative to full. Also the park assist is hopeless as activation is buried in the menu, It needs calling out to a switch and there are few things like that. Volvo infotainment needs a faster processor,

Creaking brakes. NOPE mine are fine thank you very much, superb car BUT Volvo has a problem. both they and their dealers are Knowledge POOR
Ask your dealer this simple question, my dealer didn't have the answer AND NEITHER IS IT MENTIONED in Volvo Manuals, still waiting for a reply from Volve!
Question - HOW DO I PLAY MEDIA FILES FROM THE USB PORT? - The Answer. Instal an APP, .yes Bluetooth playback on your Phone is there as is RADIO but they IGNORE USB!
Also beware, it is my belief IF YOU LEAVE A USB STICK plugged in and they flash the system to fix issues you're USB will stop working, why do I think this, they had to flash my car to get the map in the centre console working, result, my usb playback doesn't work, files were written to my mem stirck and now they want to book me in to DIAGNOSE the problem. FFS!

I live in South Africa currently, I believe We have like 3 fast chargers. From Johannesburg to Cape Town there are. zero station, let me stick with normal combustion engine to have that solid range no matter what. Once I'm back in Germany, I might have electric. scooter! EV Cars just don't makes sence. Heavy, expensive, winter economy = catastrophic! Can We move to another solution? Unless I will solar panel all african deserts!

Ahhhh I am going to miss front grilles once electric cars form the majority of cars on the road. There-s something jarring and weird about the painted panels used to replace grilles on electric cars.

Also, I feel like this C40 is kind of badly designed. So many weird little misses. A fine example of why basing an electric car on a combustion platform is a rubbish idea.

Designed with all the subtlety of a maker desperate to be considered alongside one of those massive Audi/BMW/Merc 4x4. Those titanic trucks that have a direct lineage to a Tiger tank from 1945 but none of the grace and refinement that those beasts had. It has a huge arse like all these cars seem to apart from that rather sleek DS and the clean Peugeot.

I still cannot get my head around why they spent time on this vehicle. It's not ground up electric, it's exactly the same as an XC40 just with a Sportback and thus less boot space, from what was already quite a small boot. They're trying to pitch it as a pure EV but it's not, it still has a transmission tunnel FFS.

Can I just say. what the actual f-ck is going on with car manufacturer design these days? I can count on one hand the number of cars that actually look good all-round. Audi and Mercedes used to make some of the most beautiful cars on the road, but even the majority of their models looks ridiculous!

The Volvo, in my opinion, is really ugly. The back is really bad, and for that price it should be top of the line. Squeaky breaks and the boot, when u open it and the water falls on you is just idiotic. Im from Sweden and i think this car should be as flat as a IKEA box, hidden away in the corner.
