God, these millenial cars were the pinnacle of the tech, comfort and driving pleasure. Nowadays, when they gather four tires they add turbo first, then the battery for hybrid and the 1. 5 L engine! In milenia they made the engine, and build all around it.
Nowadays they are so boring. Barely more comfortable than public busses. Claims to be ecological but hey, get a city bus or tram! Well, more secure no competition on that!

First launch was terrible by M5 dirver. Why on earth would you leave the traction conrol on? It just suffocates the engine and kills the power from the gas pedal. I know I have E46. And I almost always turn traction control off. Even in winter, especially in winter.

I have the feeling that the M5 is not only way too loud, but also in terrible condition. Beside the fact that the dsc is oversensetive, it should be a lot quicker in healthy condition. I bet this thing has less than 360hp left
The e39 is for me the best m5 ever made.

No, it doesn't; he just can't race a manual car in the rain; poor throttle/clutch management; granny shiftin' not double clutchin' like he should; Racing w/ DSC on & all; shit tyres; M5 needs a DRIVER MOD

There's got to be something wrong with that M5 dying off like that after a gear change. Maybe Vanos malfunction? Also. I never understood what drives owners to change the beautiful, deep rumble of a stock exhaust to some raspy, obnoxiuos noise.

Static tests don't actually produce the best sound - at least not in V8s. Under load in the car when that V8 bassy blare comes through is best. I had an auto 540i and it sounded like a nascar under load.

Nearly bought one of these but settled for a Sapphire cozzie instead that is stage 1 power and would batter these on the quarter mile

I'd be more interested to see these iler cars on the dyno than new cars. From memory the E39 M5 was a 13. 0s 1/4. No reason why it shouldn't make standard power if it's looked after.

Why would you give these idiots old cars to launch? If the gearbox has a problem that doesn t go away, you ve just made it worse. Don t buy any of these cars if they re on sale.

The m5 bogged from aggressive traction ctrl. Put a decent driver, n it'll do 13. 3 to 13. 5all day. 106mph. my 540 6spd did 5. 5 0 to 60 n 14. 0 at 101 measured with my g tech.

Given that the effective power is the inverse of the 1/4 mile time SQUARED, all those times were pretty underwhelming manual, (200-250PS) front wheel drive, hot hatch territory

I wish they did that stats compare screen with every race. Where I work I can t watch with volume up so it helps. They used to do it a lot. Not anymore.
