Meet the new Nissan X-Trail e-Power! It s a hybrid-powered family-friend SUV, and Mat s about to see if this 7-seat SUV has what it takes to compete with competitors such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Peugeot 5008. When it comes to the design, it s not exactly the most exciting but it offers enough to keep you interested. It s pretty chunky, similar to the old model, and higher levels of trim come with some bits of shiny trim around the front, sides and rear. You also have the option to choose a two-tone roof as well. On the inside, the cabin is largely made with good quality materials, and as long as you don t go for the entry-level model, you have a suitably sized touch screen. Thankfully climate control functions still come with physical buttons, so they re easy to manage and change when you re on the go. There are three power options available, with the top-of-the-range being a hybrid petrol, which couples a 1. 5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol with electric motors to deliver 213hp.

Hard to believe that we build things with a toxic fossil fuel burning ice engine in it.
Hard to believe people with any intelligence would actually buy a car with an ice engine in it. It clearly shows that our leadership We have a big problem and it clearly is down to professional people who carry on buying these cars and programs like yours who carry on promoting these old technology ice cars. Dangerous falls in charge of our Earth is not good Need people who are in positions of authority like this program to actually lead by example. Need to get off burning fossil fuel. . Time for truth renewable energy and electric cars connected to your house connected to your community with smart grids. carwow or people has no idea about science. #buzzofftoxic

7 seats (ish, 4wd and 35mpg.
Thats not all that bad for a 6. 3s 0-60 but then its not that great either.
Its really not great when you look at it more as though its 7 seat in name only because thats one seriously compromised rear row.
This would make more sense if it had a Hydrogen fuel cell in place of the engine.
Or a diesel.

Excellent review - totally agreed.
QUESTION: Why do we keep getting bigger and bigger cars, when the numbers of vehicles on our roads are increasing, general access within towns is decreasing, parking spaces remain 60's compatible only and many roads are decreased in size to permit bicycle / pedestrian access only?

Interesting to see the differences between Europes X trail and North America s Rogue. The Rogue features one power option with the 1. 5 turbo rated at 201hp. This gives me a sneak peak on E-power which hasn t made it to America, and last I read will be reserved for Infiniti

My old Mondeo mk2 Zetec S 2. 0 did 38mpg average, all these years and tech advances got us nowhere then, bring back my Mondeo or Cortina or Capri, much more fun and better looking, I could work on those and modify virtually everything, gone are those days.

None of the hybrids are as economical as we d hope. They just get around emission laws with ridiculous claimed MPG and give cheap BIK tax breaks to get company car drivers to choose them. They re just very complicated and cost lots
reply

Oh no. Not another Hybrid/EV. These vehicles are not sufficiently developed enough yet to be taken seriously and they are still more expensive. Car salesmen don't even understand the things sufficiently well either.

Thank you for this long waited review. Please can you do a head-to-head comparison with at least 3 of its key rivals if you can. Also, is the Nissan Pathfinder for sale in Europe, I don't know?

We had a 2004 X Trail TI and sold it only last year to my best mates son. He loves it, the leather seats, the sunroof and plenty of power for a young driver. Great machines.

Matt, you talking outta your arse? Never you should have a network show. I don't drive but I watch your reviews because they are informative and always amusing to watch.

The X-Trail T33 has been on sale in North America as the Rogue for quite some time, except that it s got different engines, eg a 2. 5-litre naturally aspirated engine.

Nissan is a wonderfull brand, but my personal belief is the French collaboration ruined the brand and set it back a great deal. The French almost sabotaged them. :/

just do drag races man. do rimac vs mcmurty. use an f1 car that isn t the rb6, since that s literally the slowest f1 car (in a straight line) of the last 20 years.
