This is the all-new Mercedes GLC! Having first been introduced back in 2015, the all-new GLC is here, and it has competitors such as the Audi Q5 & BMW X3 in its sights! The question is, are there enough updates and changes to grab your attention? In terms of looks, the new GLC takes a number of design cues from the C-Class. But then again, that s no surprise, given it s effectively an SUV version of the popular saloon! As a result, it comes with swooping tail lights and a generally good-looking rear end (even if it comes with both fake exhausts and vents! The side profile is pretty sleek and sporty, while there s a bigger grille, two Mercedes badges, and if you choose the AMG-line edition, a pretty sporty front bumper. It s more of the same on the inside, with the cabin proving to be super stylish. There s a massive infotainment screen in the centre of the dash, along with soft-touch, high-quality materials throughout the car. The air vents are well laid out, and the seats are super comfy. Overall, it doesn t get much better than this when it comes to mid-sized SUVs. When it comes to performance, there s a choice of diesel, petrol and plug-in hybrid engines to choose from. The range-topper is the 2-litre turbo petrol PHEV, which delivers 313hp. They all come with 9-speed gearboxes and four-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid can also drive for up to 80 miles on electric power alone! There s one key feature you need to keep in mind, however The new Mercedes GLC starts from 52, 000! That s more expensive than the key competitors from BMW, Audi and Porsche! So should you choose this SUV over the competition? You ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Hi Mat hope you re alright!
Would u recommend upgrading my 2020 GLC 220d Coupe 4Matic 194hp, the facelift for this new GLC (when the coupe launches, cus I dont like the SUV) or ditching the SUV and go for the C43 4matic+ 2023, or go for the new 4 series

This is the only review I will ever need. Thank you Mat and carwow for this upload. Must say though, Mercedes have upped their game the past year with all their new cars and tech. I love that interior. Hopefully the GLA and GLB will get it as well.

Why isn t the UK going to get the more powerful GLC 400e petrol plug-in hybrid that will be offered in other markets? And also, why don't UK cars get the option of DC rapid charging that is offered in other markets?
reply

Why change something it was great. Marketing click bites are cheap. Let people decide what they need. Mercedes making some great cars but this one is ugly and not very good. That make this tittle even worst.

I wish Matt would stop banging on about fake exhausts. We get it, you don t like them, it you need to realise that manufacturers don t make their choices based on carwow reviews. Get your ego in check, Matt.

I am currently waiting for delivery of GLC400e (with DC rapid charging ofc, I don't know why you guys in UK won't be getting the range topping (best) version. Its a shame.

So what is the actual boot space of the plug in hybrid models? 400lt? (mentioned 600lt on the internal combustion engine models and then reduced by 1/3 for the PIHV)
reply

I think you constantly compared this to the wrong genration. The one you should have compared with was the one that came out in 2020, your one was in 2015

Why does Carwow never review any of the new Jaguar models from the last two years? But as soon as a new German car launches, carwow has a review ready.

I'm neither a big Mercrdes nor an SUV fan. But the GLC SUV is one of my favorite cars sincr first generation. Very beautiful design. Especially the GLC43

Not sure plugging in and running on ev will save you a ton of money. What is the miles per KWh of that GLC. My guess is the diesel will be cheaper.

One major thing you missed out on the annoying things is mercedes charging a subscription to use features which the car already has equipped

Can't believe how Merc decided to stick Continental EcoContact 6 on a 300hp AMG trim SUV. Should have been PremiumContact at least.

In All My Years Of Watching Carwow, This Is My First Time Seeing Mat Pull Out A Manual. #Priceless
Big Shoutout To The Editor

Matt approving a plugin hybride! the boot space is annoying though. My 530e boot is smaller than a 3 series non hybrid.
