BMW M340i review: The perfect BMW?

Meet the recently revised BMW M340i! So what do you get with this BMW M3 lite? In terms of the design, it s all relatively standard to the previous M340i and the standard 3 Series. Up front, the changes include an aggressive low bumper, a couple of real vents and a hexagonal grille. There s an all-new alloy design exclusive to the M340i, and around the back, there s a new rear bumper, a new (fake) diffuser and a new boot lip spoiler. On the inside, it s also all pretty similar, but the main change is a huge dual screen on the dash to incorporate the infotainment screen and digital dials. You also get sports seats as standard, an updated digital dial display and a new steering wheel. Otherwise, it s pretty much business as usual! Under the bonnet, you ll find a glorious 3-litre straight-six turbo which can deliver 374hp and 500Nm of torque. Naturally, it comes with BMW s awesome 4-wheel drive system, and all-in-all it costs 58, 000.

Man not only does it have a boring (not ugly) exterior, the interior it's just a big slab of unimaginative screens. Screens are fine. But it takes away from deisgm to make it the center of attention. And it will age badly in terms of performance as the years go on.
You definitely don't want to own one of these long term.

I bought mine just before the restyling and I did well. I like the design much less snas talking about touch controls much less ergonomic. in short I agree with you it is a great BMW and a great machine for long courses the price/performance ratio is unmatched

Mat warming his hands on the engine reminds me of my Czech roommate I had '05-'08. He asked me if I know why the old Skodas have their engine in the back. If they break down in the winter and you have to push them, they keep your hands warm.

Finally you review the M340i, my cousin has it but I haven't driven it yet, for some apparent reason I've fallen in love with the car too much it's one hell of a perfect daily drive with a little sporty fun to it.

Matt. The jewel in BMW's crown. Perfection! Better than M3. 10/10! Could not be better. Beats everything out there. Stunning!
[That said best of all world's a Touring version? ] Thank You.

Uhhhhhh i mean the new audi rs3 does o to 60 in 3. 55 and costs lesser than this and the interior is much cooler. id go with audi on this one but this car is marvellous no doubt but still

That's a quick car. Yes Matt it is called the BMW tricolor stripe Why have they cheaped out on the rear caliper. I've got an M140I 2018 and it's got a way nicer looking caliper.

I like BMW but only wishes to buy one because of it constant plastic breaking in the engine compartment. I only wishe BMW will change aluminum or something more durable.

This is a great car! But iDrive 8 means I like the non LCI more (And I probably like the non LCI's styling more but I like the simplicity of the new styling: ) )

Hi Mat,
Could you share your opinion?
Which one you gonna choose between Model 3 Performance vs the new 340i? (let's ignore about the price) thanks!

This is the only design in current bmws that makes sense. Infact this is the prettiest car they make right now. Wish the M3 had this front end

In all the flashes of the normal 3 (the gray one) - the gray one looks better! Seems like a pretty sweet machine though that's a lot of dosh.

Awesome car, can do 40mpg on a run and 450bhp and 600nm with just a remap. 90% of the performance of an M3 for half the price and running costs

This colour is beautiful. I was really hoping you'd do a review on the 330e but this covers most things anyway. A great review: D
