PDK box as said in video is slightly heavier and Yianni is not doubt heavier than Matt.
Also manual transmission suffers less mechanical losses from crank horse power to wheel horse power hence why you can see the manual car gain every so slightly in gear before a change is required which then drops it back.
The roll race negated the launch, this is where the slight weight advantage and less mechanical losses came in to play despite still having a pause to change gear.

Hi Matt, love the videos keep them coming, I have the manual model (so yes your right it is the best choice) and it does also have a launch control to get it off the line better (not that yours was bad) and a flat shift function so you can keep the throttle flat while shifting up & down the box, it s in the Porsche owners book, best manual I ve ever driven!

Great shifting Matt, the gap would have been bigger had it not have been for your quick manual shifts! Well done.
Also have to factor into consideration the manual will be a bit lighter as the PDK gearbox is heavier. So this probably explains the roll-on race results, combined with the different gear ratios.

It must be said, Porsche has not only the best PDK but also the best manual gearbox in the business. Of course Matt shift it as fast as he can, but PDK is faster no matter what he does.
So with that said, i prefer the manual GT3, because the level of engagement that provides you PDK can't.

PDK 11. 4 secs at quarter mile, manual 11. 5 secs. I would think it is impossible to notice the difference in 0. 1 seconds acceleration. And the PDK loses all the fun of a manual. I choose manual lose 0. 1 seconds and gain probably 30% more fun driving the car in all speeds and conditions.

PDK is awesome, but I just can't get rid of feeling Manual GT3s especially Tourings will be absolute classics and desirable in like 20-30 years because once we all switch to electric cars, there will be no more manuals only auto therefore PDK cars won't feel that special.

I think Yianni should take racing driver training to prevent an accident, because he doesn't have a good grab on the steering wheel (like Toretto, he doesn't have good posture and he makes dangerous movements in his seat. But he is very funny and make the show better

This goodyears are quite low height tires, effectively giving the shorter gear ratio effect to the PDK car. And yes, they're waaaay grippier than pzero, no point in braking test.
with such a difference in tires, standing start drag race makes no sense either.

carwow Matt, I believe the GT3 has a no-lift-shift option when Sport mode in engaged on the manual transmission. Next time engage the no-lift-shift on the manual so you don t have to press down on the clutch pedal for even faster shift times.

I think the manual are faster in-gear. The manual gearbox have less inertia than the PDK. So it should be quicker on a high-way race. However if your changing gear alot, like in i drag race, the quick gearchanges in PDK makes up for that.

You could have just put both cars in third and stay at a set speed, like 40mph, and then look at the RPM of the engine.
If the the auto turning over faster, then it has shorter gears, if turning slower, then it has longer gears.

These gearboxes have the same ratios in Reverse 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th. They differ slightly in 5th, 6th and obviously 7th since the manual doesn't have a 7th gear. The difference is in de final drive ratio in the differential.
