I've owned and built mk4 and mk5 vw's. The 3. 2 sounds great and launches very aggressively, handles better and can certainly be built to compete with high HP but without boosting them, the turbo 4 cyl's easily win. Chip tunes + bolt on's alone make the 1. 8/2. 0t's much quicker, not to mention the weight/drivetrain disadvantages on a roll of the quattro/haldex systems (especially if automatic. Would be curious to see a similar lineup of GTI's where we could also compare the 1. 8t to the fwd 2. 8 vr6.

Vote. Years ago Clarkson did a part of Top Gear devoted to the Audience TT. He brushed his hair and looked in the mirror and said I have a Audi TT. He called it a Hairdressers car which I felt was a little Cruel. Personally I am not a fan of this car. For the people on here who also do not care for this car what make and model for a similar price to this car would you have as a alternative?

The test is not truly scientific. We don't know if the mk 1 v6 is down on power considering both mk1's are old. The m2 is close to mk3
Perhaps they should do a rolling road test to check bhp. Even the guy admits his touraeg is quicker with the same engine. Thsts a much heavier car. The mk1 1. 8 turbo had two power outputs 180bhp and 225bhp.

I can understand a bit of messing about but there s literally 5 minutes of nothing before you get to the race. I reckon if you just show the stats on the screen and then do the messing about during and after the race it can be just as entertaining and at the same time less annoying

That VR6 is definitely not running right I mean they re not quick but it should definitely not be that slow. Also they re not actually V6 that s just VW lying with the badge. VR6 sound good at least though.

1. 8 tfsi I way faster then 3. 2 atmosphere all day! I don't understand who would chose the 3. 2liter over 1. 8 turbo! There's just no advantage over 1. 8 except the engine noise.

Hi Mat, great Race again. What do think about a M156 Motor Rennen. IT is the popular AMG engine which was build into different Mercedes cars. Would be nice to see them perfom.

Considering the visual state of the v6-TT, I assume it didn't receive much love on proper maintenance of the engine either. Which could explain the current performance.

The power curve on a turbo engine is going to be better than an N/A engine, the 2. 0 probably makes more power than the v6 at almost any RPM until near redline

I have a v6 and it has launch control and I'd say this one has cam chain issues as they are much faster than that. Cool race through
