Tesla Cybertruck DRAG RACE

Tesla Cybertruck DRAG RACE

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
Mat has returned to the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin Texas, and he s got his hands on the all-new Cybertruck! So of course, you know what that means It s drag race time! Naturally, there was only one competitor that we had to compare this all-electric pick-up to - the Hummer EV! The question is, which will come out on top? Well, let s check out the stats. Starting with the Cybertruck, it rolls up equipped with three electric motors, and they combine to produce 845hp and 930Nm of torque. The starting price of the dual-motor edition is around 49, 000, but for this tri-motor Cyberbeast edition, it ll cost you around 96, 000! In terms of weight, the Cybertruck tips the scales at just over 3 tonnes. Think that s heavy? Well, that s nothing compared to the Hummer, which comes in at 4, 110kg! Just like the Tesla, the Hummer is equipped with three motors, but it s also up on power, producing 1, 014hp and 1, 485Nm! The price is also slightly higher than the Cybertruck, coming in at around 109, 000.

Bloody hell! That Cyberbeast was away like a bat out of hell! Not a turn of phrase that I would normally use, but very aptly describes how fast that vehicle got going. Very impressive. I can see that one of this vehicle's applications will be as a cheap protective vehicle for some VIPs with its bullet resistant bodywork and gorilla glass and the ability to make a fast getaway. It shouldn't however, be considered to be an armoured vehicle that is bullet-proof and VIPs like heads of state and heads of government and the like will still want something more discreet and more protective. The exception to that being the US President who has one of the most obvious and well known armoured vehicles in the world and always travels in a carnival procession. I'm obviously talking about normal countries' heads of state and government. The Cybertruck is a good choice for CEOs and the UN perhaps. They just need to remember that this is an EV and will require an ICE support vehicle with a humongous generator in the back. /s

Awesome race, Just fun antics too.
You can see the it's all about weight for the win w/the CT. Both cars very consistent. At 320 max range, likely 300 while the Hummer is now at 380, you'd need the range extender to equal the weight between the 2 & I'm sure it'll be a pretty close race.
Would be cool to get the GM guys in on this, can't trust those Telsa engineers being shady and adding a couple other param changes aside from the mph unlock (change suspension, battery life/C, safety, regen for the sake of drag racing. But all in good fun!

Idk. The Cybertruck looks cool but so does the Hummer. Then again, if I had the money to buy either of those I'd still go for a F150 Raptor, F250 or a Silverado because they are just proven to be reliable. Tesla is known for having shoddy manufacturing quality and Hummer wasn't known for it's quality in the first place and the new leadership that revived the brand hasn't proven itself at all yet. I'll say it again, really cool cars but neither one of them would be an option for me.

Thanks for doing the thing only two days after the reveal of the final car. I thought we have to wait until Mats Cyber gets shipped to the UK.
11. 2s is impressive. The car has 500kg more weight than a Model X Plaid, 175 hp less and needs 1 second longer. I guess there is no 3 tons car in the world that is this fast. So Tesla has the fastest sedan (9. 4s), fastest SUV (10. 1s) and fastest beast (11. 2s) on the quarter mile. Roadster, where are you? :P

Both cars are utterly pointless. 4. 2tonnes for a pick up truck? - that s crazy. How can that honestly be better for the environment (if you re into that kind of thing) than an ICE Ford F150? The material and energy required to make a 215kwh battery are immense.
The entire EV thing is a massive scam and the public are finally waking up to the fact.

They are comparing a pre-production Tesla cyber truck to a production Hummer EV. And they used a computer to increase the top speed limit of the pre-production Tesla while it is being compared to a production Hummer EV. The Tesla people should have given a pre-production vehicle where they did not have to alter anything; Tesla people are corny

Matt doesn t even know that the cyber truck can crabwalk also. Doesn t he do the least amount of research on the vehicles before he reviews them? I could put my grandmother in there and she would know more about the truck than he does. He doesn t even know how drive-by wire works either. Embarrassing.

Thank you so much for the review! They re both cool but I think the Cybertruck is the obvious choice to most people even if it s unconventional. The Cybertruck is also way faster and more efficient and has more cool features! The way it beat the hummer was epic. This happened in Haggerty s review too!

Drag racing in pick up truck? No use in real life. In real life I need to pull my trailer, boat and excavator. And I need fast charging. Going from 50k to over 70k may make cancel my order. I ll just get a Cummins 6. 7 like always.

That cybertruck is the ugliest car I ve ever seen, even years after the reveal I still can t see anything interesting in it. And the hummer, over 4000kg, damn, in my country you ll need a bus license just to drive that.
reply

You would have thought with this being filmed at a Giga place that Elon would have been there to take part. It's not fair that Matt wins all the races. Maybe Elon needs to drive the Teslas. Just an idea.
reply

the fac that tesla is spacing all their marketing time showing off drag times, tells you all you need to know about its abilities as an actual truck. something the hummer actually can more than pass for,

So a 3 tonne Ute with crabs and a 3 tonne Ute that looks like origami are our future? Proof money can t buy brains. Curious tho, 230 battery in the hummer what s the range the recharge of it?
reply

Oh man I can t wait for Matt to put either of these two beasts through his usual off-road challenge test! Think we ll have to wait a while for that but I ve no doubt it will be worth the wait.

OMFG I DREAMT OF SAID ALIENS VEHICLE just last week and hunted down the movie over last weekend to watch! One of the earlier horror movies of my childhood for sure lol!
reply

Bwm place bigger grill- OMG it is so ugly!
Tesla build this - OMG it look so awesome and futuristic!
This truck is so ugly that i don't have word for it

reply

You Amy not get the Cybertruck in UK but I m South African and we get NO Teslas. Even though Elon is South African. It sucks. Elon please send me a Cybertruck forthwith
reply

Who the hell think Hummer EV is good idea: ): )
lol in my country you cant get normal car licence for that Hummer because its heavyer than 4 tons if iam correct.

reply

That Hummer is better looking & the races could've been more fun if it wasn't limited to 106. Also, it stopped so well despite weighing more than 4000 kgs.
reply

But do the brakes still suck like on the vehicles I have? Or am I suppose to do what I ve had to do and go after market for better / adequate braking?
