We ve got our hands on an original Ford GT 40 from 1967, a second-generation GT from 2006, and a third-generation from 2017! So let s see how the three compare. Starting with the GT 40, it comes equipped with a 4. 7-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can deliver 310hp and 450Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 5-speed manual gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1, 230kg. Back when it was first released it cost 18, 500, but if you re looking to buy one today it ll easily set you back 2, 500, 000! Then we have the Mk2. It s packing a 5. 4-litre supercharged V8 that puts down 560hp and 680Nm. All the power it sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual, and it weighs in at 1, 520kg. It cost 110, 000, but now it costs around 500, 000. Then finally we have the latest GT. It s powered by a 3. 5-litre twin-turbo V6 that can put down 650hp and 750Nm. It s the only car here with an automatic gearbox, with all this power sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch. It tips the scales at 1, 485kg, and while it cost 440, 000 when it was first released, it s now valued at around 1, 000, 000. So will it be a walkover for the all-new GT, or could one of the older ones get a shock win? There s only one way to find out LET S RACE!

I think the one I would like to own the most is the 2006 GT.
Of course the original GT40 is the most beautiful and the original one, but in reality you can't use that really on the streets, to go cruising a weekend in the alps or so.
Too expensive, too fragile, it's a priceless antique.
The 2017 GT is the most advanced and obvously fastest, but I think the 2007 one captured the spirit of the GT40 the best. Both in looks and in concept. Manual transmission, big supercharged V8, proper old school supercar. Probably the most fun to drive (save the original GT40 probably but that's priceless)

The perfect demonstration for progress vs time. Hats off to the GT40, still holding its own really, comparative to its age and the tech in the newer vehicles.
The new GT has gone too much the way of most mainstream supercar manufacturers in its looks, they should try to keep more to the heritage of the earlier models by way of looks, keep them unique.

Ford may make a faster and better handling car but no ford will ever beat what 2006 Ford GT is. That thing looks amazing, drives amazing, feels amazing. It has the trifecta of what makes a car both timeless and mesmerizing! A car that become both a legend and Myth the moment it was unveiled to the world, Astonishing!

It s important to note that the first gen went through a lot of changes and had about four different engines a 4. 2l making 355, the 4. 7l making 390, the 4. 9 making 425, and a 7. 0l making 485 and a load more torque. All naturally aspirated as well which was pretty impressive in the 60 s.

Awesome idea. But the authentic tire is rubbish. All cars needs the newest tech tire. or we will see only tire testing. (For. those who are not familiar, tires are improving very very very much, even that no so old one on the 2005 GT40 is a horrible piece of junk compared to a latest tire)

This was a brilliant video, loved seeing the ford GT's generations but although irrelevant to this video, i think you should do a video on the current gen 911 turbo S and GT3 RS vs previous gen 911 GT2 RS just to settle which is faster

The original is one of the most arousing cars ever made.
The second gen is a fitting tribute to the original, also quite a looker.
The newest one is just an aerodynamic nightmare, pretty much generic modern sportscar.

You give me the choice I am driving home in the original, great sound, incredible looks, pure raw mechanical feel, absolute closest to the real racing car. I could listen and watch it do laps all day.

Great test, shame they couldn't run a 427 Gt40 though, the MK3 was the tamest of the gt40's and I feel the earlier more race derived cars would have given the later cars a run for their money

Rotisserie Chicken: It's cooler here while basking than inside that GT-40. Shawarna: Even here on this spit there is a nice Mediterranean hot breeze. Poor fellow cooking on that GT-40.

Not very intresting race and cars this time. What a shame that ford goes slower than tourist car Audi RS6 Perf and even slower than TT RS with little 2. 5L engine. big fail for ford

Tell Camillo to quit being so stingy and let you drive his Ford GT or find somebody who will. I don t want to see another Ford GT drag race without you racing the latest generation.

GT40 is quite beautiful design that will always be one of the best looking cars. The 3rd gen is head and shoulders better performance which leaves the 2nd gen as the middle child. :(

where did this word come from all of a sudden bespoke Just say one of a kind or something to that effect, i hate the word. Bespoke, everyone and their dog is saying it, cringe.

British man: But yuh gonna give ih FULL beans, awen't you?
American man: Yeah I'm gonna. Hopefully, I'll give it FOUR beans - I'll give it as many beans as I can!

OMG GT40 absolutely madness i seen them twice in Melbourne Australia and i'm in a sedan and these things are literally kissing the ground. absolute madness!
reply

I'll be taking the older GT's over that new one any day.
The new one costing so much and having an engine out of a Ford Explorer is just a massive joke for me.

reply

The original had a NA V8. The next one a supercharged (why) V8 and the last a twin turbo fcuking V6, which is a disgrace! The original is still the one!
reply

Fair play to the guy actually launching the gt40. I mean in the gtr vid nobody launched and they just 90s cars. This car is an absolute legend and was launched!
reply

Matt: But you re gonna give it full beans, aren t you?
Guy: Hopefully I ll give it four beans haha I ll give it as many beans as I can.
Pure comedy
