2021 Mitsubishi RVR (ASX in Canada) Owner here, previously owned 2015 Lancer. These cars are absolute workhorses & the 4B11/4B12 engines are bulletproof. One weakness is the CVT, however the Invecs III CVT is way superior software than crappy Nissan Xtronic. The bad rep comes from extremely abusive and complacent onwners, unfortunately those are the customers that get their hands on these cars since they have shit credit score.
Replacing the Trans oil pan filter, Trans cooler filter & use only Mitsubishi J4 CVT fluid every 45-50k kms keep these transmissions good for a long time.

Only one European Car in the list was the VW! And obviously the most basic car in the list wins the reliability pole position. There was nothing to go wrong in the car to bein width LOL. Kudos to the Hilux for making the top 5 because it get's it's arse worked off while all the other cars were bitumen corner shop specialists. I would still pick Toyota 1st IMO. What wasn't mentioned was the volume of cars sold per category. This plays a massive part.

Seems obscure, and the reliability report is only based on cars with a specific warranty company’s limited sales data.
I’d take my chances that the repair costs would be low if there was an issue with them, different approach then for more complex cars like your Merc, BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc.

Kia Venga! Are you joking I have one of those, had to change the whole steering column after 50. 000 km! ( 1500) Lots of other issues too (central locking, electric windows, fuel pump, rust on doors. They have a 7 year warranty, but after they basically start falling apart. Apart from that, very ugly, very dull, but extremely roomy and practical.

Which just goes to show that the expensive cars are always the least reliable, which is insane. If you pay 60K for a car it should be at least as reliable as something that costs 20K. Imagine buying the cheapest TV possible because it's also the most reliable, car manufacturers building in obsolescence for those who can afford it most.

The way cars are driven will account for a lot of reliability issues i'm sure a 3 litre 300bhp engine driven slowly with bigger and better parts to accompany a faster car working at 10% when driven normally could match or beat an Alto being run harder. No one drives the premier brands like the consumers of every car on that list.

Sorry but this is just a statistical analysis which has nothing to do with the reality. The most reliable cars in this video are cars which have not to much data. So I assuming as long as I drive a car which is not very popular in Europe it is reliable due to missing statistic data.

most reliable and cars with the lowest repair bills are entirely different things. Car car that has a single repair bill of 1K vs a car that needed to go in 10 times for the same total amount are not the same reliability. Reliability means not breaking down, not being cheap to repair.

Got a 2014 Suzuki Swift, and bought it in 2014 when new. 100km mileage, not a SINGLE problem lol My biggest expense has been repairing some rear break lights cause the bulb died My lesson is that I will always buy a Japanese as a daily, and the fun car can be whatever.

Isn’t this slightly flawed. The majority are small, cheap to repair cars. So if you base the ratings on cost of repairs they are going to finish above any large car.
The rating should be based on number of issues not cost to repair.

Skewed / bias list.
The high ranking cars are not common so there’s not enough data to compare fairly against more common models.
Also takes no account in the type of drivers / owners who drive these vehicles.

Toyota is an interesting one because if you service them at the dealer they extend your warranty to 10 years, and I doubt cars older than that will even get third party warranties offered to them.

Basically the simplest forms of cars are the most reliable from a $ point of view. Enter all of the latest hybrid ultra complex cars with a ton of tech in them. I’m sure this will end well.

Funny thing is, a 20 year-old honda or toyota will have far less reliability concerns than any 5-year-old car. And if something does go wrong, chances are it can be fixed for a tenner.

so if two cars (different brand) for example have problems with steering. Car 1 cost 100 pound, and car 2 cost 200 pound to repair. So car 1 is most reliable Maybe I got it wrong

These stats are good, but they dont factor the driving style that these cars cater to. Of course boring granny cars will be reliable because their life is spent doing 25 in a 40

Lord Alto. hands down, Lord alto with K10B three-cylinder engine theoretically it looks more unreliable than a Toyota but in the real world, it is more reliable than any Toyota.
