Which is the superior all-electric pick-up truck - the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, or Ford F-150 Lightning Well, Mat had a chance to all three of them, and we’re about to find out which he thinks is the must-have all-electric truck! So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the design, the Cybertruck is one of the most eye-catching vehicles on the road today - literally nothing looks similar to it! It’s made out of huge, tough aluminium body panels, and is covered in hard angles from the front to the rear that somehow make it look both retro and futuristic at the same time! When it comes to the Rivian, it’s a super-stylish bit of kit. It has a relatively conventional pick-up truck look, but the addition of a cool light bar at the front really helps it stand out. The one we reviewed here also came equipped with an off-road pack that added several features and helped it look more rugged. Then finally we have the F-150 Lightning. It certainly looks the most conventional of the three cars here, looking very similar to the conventional petrol-powered F-150! Still though, if the likes of the Cybertruck are a bit too wild, then the F-150 Lightning may be the choice for you. All three cars come with pretty smart interiors. Both the Cybertruck and Rivian keep things simple, with a huge infotainment screen in each used to control nearly all functions. The Rivian does have one advantage over the Cybertruck, though, with a digital dial display in the usual position. The Ford F-150 Lightning has a few upgrades over the ICE version, such as the inclusion of the same screen as in the Mach-E. Otherwise, though, it continues to look very similar to the usual truck. All three contenders come with a choice of batteries and motors. The range-topping Cybertruck, nicknamed the Cyberbeast’, comes with three motors and a range of up to 320 miles. The dual-motor Rivian Max’ should deliver up to 410 miles, and the top-of-the-range Ford F-150 comes with dual motors and a range of up to 320 miles.

Each of these vehicles have very different target markets and purposes. Ford needed to throw down a mark to try and convince the world (and share holders) it was still at least in-touch with the technology leaders when it comes to EV. They are struggling to sell their huge stocks of the first lightenings as consumers realise that the first of the breed is a repurposed gas car with some not very convincing electrical parts included. Sophisticed EV buyers expect EV’s to be designed and manufactured from the ground up with fully optimised power trains, battery and software. Ford are still playing catch up. Rivian, overflowing with ex-Tesla alumni’s make a great vehicle, but need to scale to profitable production to survive as there’s no point in loosing $250, 000 dollars for every car you sell. The road to profitability is a long and dangerous one, I do hope they can scale to produce profitable vehicle and survive in a difficult market. Then we have Cybertruck, brutishness personified and as divisive as Marmite. It’s a flagship technology platform masquerading as a truck, 48v low voltage architecture, steer by wire, structural 4680 battery pack, paint free stainless steel body panels and a plethora of new production techniques are the real story. If your a shy retiring type of person that loves the quite life, the Cybertruck probably isn’t what your looking for. That said, it’s not boring and will invite discussion where ever you drive. For me, there’s only one technology leader with class leading safety features and that’s the Cybertruck.

It hilarious to see so much hate online. comment section but then when that CT is on the road, everyone loves with genuine smile taking pictures, etc. Even those who owns diesel to those who don't. I find that the camera makes look cyber truck ugly in default color and only in certain angle looks good. But those guys wrapping cyber truck with crazy looks way better. The default look looks ugly, but it shines in its habitat (mars. I have seen many having fun in desert sand. Well, its own choice but never seen such hate against tesla which is only company taking risk and making crazy product with technology and features. While I agree that tesla build quality is not that better, but the way people make it that only thing people should care about is that panel gaps. Like neglecting how integrated is tesla with its software and hardware. Rivian does appear to be second behind software experience but ford what's up with those media player look and sluggish system. While it should be acknowledged that ICE vehicles are still better at range long distance travel it is not that fun experience for me at least. Tesla super charging is so good and simple, easy and it's nice that other many joining Tesla Charge Network. Recently seen FUD around tesla stuck in charge station with no powers and making huge news. While it's true that range loss happens, the tesla is efficient with energy use and using produced heat is used to warm and before charging preconditioning makes everything simple and easy with charging.

Started this right now. The Cyber Truck is going to win. Because otherwise it wouldn't be on here.
It's unique. but rubbish. Which is why it will never be sold anywhere with any remote safety requirements. Also I accidentally made a copy of a Cybertruck for my daughters school project. It was actually a laugh.
Can we get a Cyberfruck in a right hand market anywhere And why is the Tesla so awesome Apart from being designed by a drunken retard I hear they're great for towing. Nobody that actually needs a vehicle like this would ever buy one. But I understand you have to give away your credibility to suck up but put the most mild downfalls in, but it's pre production so the fact it sucks. My 1988 Patrol had smaller panel gaps than a Tesla Model X.
This has ruined carwow for me.

The Rivian is the only one I'd even consider. The secret compartment yoinked from The Fall Guy's truck is
Also, the Cybertruck didn't look futuristic back in the 80s when it was in all of those low-budget Mad Max knock-offs and it doesn't look any more futuristic now. Mat's trying to convince himself he's not being daft for buying one, but sadly he is.
What's really mind-boggling is that back in the 80s/90s USA crash safety regulations were spoiling import cars left and right by putting ricockulous massive bumpers on them. Nowadays, despite health and safety being more out-of-control than ever, they're quite happy to make a stainless steel brick that out-accelerates sports cars and is guaranteed to kill anyone it hits. Go figure.

Rivian hands down for personal use and off roading, ford f-150 for work related local tasks. Cybertruck for nothingit’s a complete flop and comes in last in every measureand people really need to stop calling a car based on a 1970s movie a futuristic design. No other car manufacturers is making cars like this in the futurethey are all prototyping much sleeker designs. This is a dated old movie design not a futuristic designget a cluenot to mention if you really think legacy automakers having internally tested this kinda design and material use long before Tesla existed you are delusional. They all tested it and all stayed far away from it for a reason.

In terms of truck things, all suck. Towing capacity is high but range when towing is awful. 0-60 is great however that doesnt matter in a truck. Reliability for Rivian and Tesla are awful as is build quality. Ford is having battery issues and in terms of repairability are all a nightmare. If you want a truck to actually use for truck things, dont get any of these. If you live in california where theres charging stations every 10 miles and its never cold and 100k for a truck is affordable, go for it. If you're anyone else, get a regular F150 or Tundra.

I've watched a few videos today of actual consumer cybertrucks being tested - towing, off-road, on-road. It's buggy and laughably behind the competition, besides the usual straight-line acceleration (one-trick pony. Beaten off-road by a basic Subaru Outback station wagon, losing plastic parts along the way. All that money and you still have to look to the side to see your speed. For me, it's also the ugliest of the trucks here and will not be for sale in many countries for safety reasons.

The Lightning has about 8-10 inches of ground clearance, due to the low hanging battery pack, among the direct drive motors on the axels. Not sure I'd want to take one of those off roading. and I'm not sure why this truck even exists other than to show that they can have an electric, commercial vehicle that is marketable to the American customers that think F150 and Silverado are Full-Size, while the rest of the world thinks Ranger and Colorado are Full Size.

Carwow your content quality seems to be dropping. This isn't the first time we've seen clips from previous reviews stiched together to make a comparison review. I miss the days when you actually had all the models present and do a back to back comparison. So you have reposted a video you did months ago and now another stiched comparison. Is something happening at carwow

No clear coat on the Tesla so the stainless will stain and scratch. They recommend washing almost after every drive. Basically, it must be wrapped. So dumb for consumer market but perfect for the future they envision of no private ownership of vehicles. Just AI fleet vehicles you schedule or summon as needed. It's coming and the government will regulate it into existence.

If the Cybertruck had an ICE it would sell like hot cakes. IMO the Rivian wins, but I'd like to see it compete with the Tesla on the same tires. The Lightning is a far away third place and the other two would just depend on your usage. Issue for me is that the Cybertruck wins on fronts where a diesel or gas powered truck would still be better.

Can we make one thing clear Matt
I love your videos, but I really don't like the mashup of different Videos.
You started this thing but I wish you would have actually taken all three Trucks together.
So, unfortunately, I wasn't bothered to watch the Video, cause I already watched all the Videos separately.

52: 20 Measuring the 60-0 braking distance when you've started braking at 100mph simply won't give you the same result as measuring the 60-0 distance from 60mph. Especially with tall, heavy vehicles. Try it with your tech. The initial hit of inertia at 100mph isn't factored into the time you gave.

Cyber truck is butt ugly! It’s a death machine for pedestrians who get in its razor edge way. Wait till the giant wiper gets frozen and splits into pieces on the windshield and the range goes to under 100 miles in frigid weather! Expensive toy for the wealthy or crazy!

All the pure EVs are crap. We're not ready for a pure EV, we don't have a good technology yet, the system pushes people to buy an EV for a different reason than save the planet, but many people are not able to understand that; anyway, it's your money, do what you want.
reply

I wouldn't waste my money on that ugly ass Tesla, why in the world make the truck so unappealing. I really don't get it. Hopefully one day if this is our future in transportation they make it more appealing. this is terrible.

Did you notice all the finger prints on the door of the Cyber Truck. This is why you don't make a stainless steel vehicle without paint. Stainless, may not rust, but it shows fingerprints and oil smudges like nothing else.
reply

I'm really not a fan of these videos where you just cut together old existing reviews. Doesn't provide any additional value since some of the videos are years old and then really isn't much of an actual comparison.
reply

The Cybertruck beast is not being sold right now, it's the AWD founders edition. Not sure how accurate your comparison is when you're not comparing the available the CT which is the AWD version and not the trimotor.
