A few questions:
1. When will it be available in the USA?
2. There are still a lot of new MK7 GTIs available in the US. I-ve been reticent because they-ve been reported to develop a lot of rattles and leaks - and then there-s a stalling issue with the manual in neutral. Are these problems exclusive to the Mexican made models sold in the US or are they being reported on the Euro spec models as well?
Btw, I-m enjoying your reviews. I like how you get right to the major points with just the right amount of wit. Many of the other reviewers tend to ramble!

I like Golf's but this car is just a hideous eyesore. Who designed the interior and exterior of this car? some bored high school kids? VW needs to get its shit together otherwise they can kiss the Golf line goodbye. Whoever thought it was a neat idea to go all touch centric must have rocks in their head and clearly gave no thought to safety and practicality. The overall cheapness of the car jumps out at you as well. Dieselgate must still be hurting VW after all this time.

Yeah it looks awful. especially after how good the mk5, 6, 7&7. 5 looked the 8 did have a lot to live up to, but that should-ve made it easier to make this look good. they-ve messed it up imo
Shame about the power too. a mk5 gti stage 1 gives you the same power, better yet an edition 30 has near enough the same amount of power from the start.
Disappointed in all honesty, the looks don-t do it.

Finally a slight interior upgrade. But minimal external feature difference between base and top spec models. Fairly bland look, with minimal change to the last model. Not much of an incentive to fork out the cash for one. It is like a wannabe A-Class Mercedes with minimal luxury features and a less powerful engine. Admittedly cheaper than an A-class though.

Oh dear, I saw pre-launch pictures that looked fantastic, but maybe I was mistaken and it was one of those 'artistic interpretations' of what the MK8 GTI was going to look like. How disappointing that it looks so tame and pedestrian. Just call it the new Golf Frumpy Mc Frump Face. BOO!

So, apparently, I'm the only person in the entire world who likes it. The Golf 7. 5 GTI was fantastic and very good looking, but i like the VIII more from the back, it's a bit sharper, and the interior that, in the previous model, the central console was a big slab of buttons.

coming from a MK7 GTI owner, and having always loved fast Golfs, I should be biased but I just can't, as i'd be lying to myself. Rather disappointed by the exterior look of the MK8, and its a real shame as this will be the last Golf they'll produce: (

I've jumped from MK5, to MK6 and now MK7. However, I'm sorry but VW destroyed the MK8 front end for me. I'll keep my MK7 GTI PP, thanks. In fact, I'll move to a new car make instead of buying the MK8 when it comes up to renewal. So dissapointed: (

Glad I swapped my -18 GTI Autobahn for -19 Golf R and didn-t wait for this very disappointing -20 GTI. To point out the obvious, it blows me away VW couldn-t come up with better wheel design? They had the same on the -18 GTI and I hated it!

Mood lighting like the pug 3008, display like the pug 3008 i_cockpit and the VW driver still looks through the s_wheel to view dials how quaint is that. 3008 car came out in 2017 nothing new here in case you are a golf fan!
