I am unimpressed with the diesel. Even in a rolling race it lost so much. It’s clearly a motorway cruiser as if it was tuned like the petrol.
Usually I prefer diesel due to their more efficient tourqe output than petrol. It could also be BMW has stopped putting in as much effort into their diesel models. Love petrol sounds great. But some of us do love our performance diesels!
It’s a shame to see them slowly disappear, I feel there is less options and variety in the high end street cars.

If you want to go fast your biggest enemy is weight.
These cars could go twice as fast with only half the power if they weren’t such big overweight obese fat blob SUVs.
150hp in a caterham would annihilate these fat family wagons from point to point, proving that these disgustingly numb vehicles with zero dynamics are entirely unnecessary and absolutely incapable of anything other than being a horrendous compromise.

I hate them both. BMW's Beaver Teeth is a poster child for the 20's car design attitude of Make it as ugly as possible, because it's 'distinctive' Thankfully the grilles aren't chrome, which makes it SO much worse. I miss when BMW could design cars that were not only rapid as all heck, but also really good looking and timeless.

Would be interesting to see the most powerful petrol i6 in this as well. I’m guessing that would be the 40i but with the V8 now being 60i instead of 50i the 3. 0 petrol may now be a 50i. Not sure either way would be interesting to see how much slower the 3. 0 petrol would be against the 3. 0 diesel

I loke both X7's how they look but the new one just a bit more. And mat please make a drag race with BMW X7 M60i this time and a Mercedes amg g63s, or not with the g63s but with X7 M50i cuz i wanna see how much quicker the new X7 is compere to the old(previus) one.

BMW are doing it all wrong - they should keep the current lineup and just simply replace the engine with batteries and replace the bell housing with a motor and make the gearbox stronger.
No new models required, just different drivetrain options. Simple.

Dear Carwow, can you please add the quarter mile time in 2 decimal places and the 0-60mph time of your runs because you do it on your review when you launch the cars with that machine you use. It just means there is no need of a speed trap. Thank you.

Drag races got old a long time ago, you should do proper races round a track, drag races don't test the handling or the corner performance etc at all, just power, torque, weight and aerodynamics all of which can be found out easily

Most ridiculous looking BMW ever. BMW jeeps look like Bentley jeeps and all the other brands that tried filling the jeep market. Its not what suits them. Land rover, jeep, Toyota all do the jeep market justice

The Esther Ranson styling is still hideous. BMW design this century so far has just gone downhill with every vehicle. M2 is nearly ok but proportions are wrong as with every model.

Consumption after the racing of the 2 compared would have been great. I mean you new the M60 would be quicker. Next time please add that when comparing a Diesel vs a Petrol.

Facelift doesn't do it for me. My 2021 M50i looks much better. The split headlights don't seem like a natural progression from the original design.
