It's easy to make fun of Dacia, but they're pretty much the only manufacturer left for propably 80% of the population. Everybody who isn't a banker or gets a car gifted from his company has to buy something that's absolutely worth the hard earned money. Would I buy the Spring Hell no, Dacia makes way better cars than this, but here in Germany you can get it for about 10k in new condition which is actually cheaper than any other new car left - and its fcking electric. The fact that there's a brand that doesn't artificially push up its prices to a point where nobody knows how they're even calculated just so they can hide a couple of thousand dollars in profit margin more should be celebrated instead of laughed at.

I can't imagine anyone who's living in poverty is going to be buying a new car (or any car) so you might want to reconsider the choice of adjective used for the trim level. Especially in the current financial climate and particularly when referencing the cost of your watch in the same video. While some of the design flaws are hard to forgive, starting the video by calling out the negatives rather than the significant amount of positives, and testing it in driving situations it's not made to excel at just smacks of sensationalism and being out of touch. A pretty poor video all round, really, when your website is designed to appeal to the everyday person.

The perfect car for most people if you ask me as most people live in polluted and over populated cities all sat in over priced badge snobbery cars all driving a maximum of 5 mph if your lucky. I live out in the stick and for most part still enjoy driving a nice car but after getting a job that takes me into a city I cant for the life of me see why anyone would drive a 50k car from their home to work just a few miles at a tortoise pace. This car is perfect transport for city people and it might also reduce the thousand of mums in their huge SUVs driving. 3 of a mile to school everyday clogging up the streets.

I'm confused the headlines read what about a Cheap small EV economy car.
When someone builds a modern car equivalent to the original mini it makes me think
Cup holders power windows seats & door locks heavy sound deadening and topped with a sun roof is not a car the car guys can talk about.
A heavily loaded car with all the bell's whistles & gadgets give many more talking points like the infotainment system is slow or the optional $1, 000. 00 headlights aren't up to par and increase the insurance value due to expensive accident repairs.
If you want a cheap car there it is!

What I don't like about Dacia Spring is the value. If I sell my 2. gen. Fiat Panda r. n. and buy a Dacia Spring, I will pay 10 times more for a car, that is worse in literally every single detail. For a price of a Dacia Spring, I can get a new Fiat Panda and petrol for 47 000 km. And it will be more practical, faster, with longer range (and faster refuel, better equipped and most likely even cheaper to run, since with this range, I would have to use whatever public charging station I could reach. Why on earth would anybody buy this, when Toyota Yaris hybrid is nearly the same price.

I have more then 2 years with the Spring. The other cars, are all of them better and bigger, only the eUP can be considered a rival. I use it on short distances and in town, you can’t have any luxury or confort expectations from a car that costed 8000 with government grant. Some e-bikes or scooters are more expensive and don’t have a roof, 4 seats and AC. Think about the Citroen Ami that has kind of same price, it’s an e-scooter with a roof. Besides all the minuses mentioned in video, the car it’s reliable.

paid 12k euro / 10k pounds for it, new. has parking sensors, camera, apple car play, auto lights, front radar, app control (start heating or cooling via app, range in the summer 200 km / 124 miles and around 110 km / 70 miles in the winter (aircon and heating on, 30kwh fast charge. 5 years warranty on the car and 8 for the battery, service included for 5 years. no taxes for it, free parking in my city. it's a city car, designed for ride sharing and deliveries.

I really don’t like nor believe at all in electric cars. But this one breaks the rule. You can buy it without financing because it’s cheap and forget about monthly payments. And as someone wrote if your office building has a charging station, it’s a deal. BUT you will always need another ICE car in the family for when you need to travel to somewhere far. And this is why we go back to the point where EV make no sense outside of congested towns traffic.

I actually own one of these and this review really cracked me up in a good way.
I think most people that get it will never actually care about the negative things you've mentioned. I think the cure for fixing the performance & quality problems mentioned in the video is to ignore them by actually trying to be thankful for the little things. Having an attitude of luxury/being unthankful is really unhealthy.

Awesome car, the planet needs more inexpensive cars like this with a lower carbon footprint. For a lot of people, this would be all the car they need and Dacia should be given recognition for delivering value into a market full of overweight and unnaffordable EVs full of leds, crystals and other crap no-one wants or asked for. Good job Dacia (also looks quite nice IMO: o)

Why would someone buy such a car Because not everyone is a car enthusias Some people just need a cheap, easy to use, commuter. The low maintenance costs for the Spring are unbeatable.
Mat has a bit lost the touch to reality. The times, when 1/4 mile times were most important are going to an end. A lot of power is just good for only one thing: Your ego.

This is exactly what the WEF wants us all driving, these uber cheapy slow vehicles, constantly having to charge up at overinflated electricity prices. And the car will likely not last very long, and be written off in a carpark ding, so have to be replaced. God know what its going to be like in a crash test, its so tinny, i reckon 1 star max.

If you need to save money, just buy used. Just not EVs, because you know, batteries kind of suck at the whole not degrading really quickly or being cheap to service/replace. This is why cheap EVs don't make sense to me. I also doubt anyone on such a tight budget can afford house insurance that will cover them against spontaneous Lithium fires.

Should be ok at that, has what it needs to have.
I think they hit the nail on the head with this one.
BTW You can quick charge small batteries, but in order to not overheat the batteries they need a cooling system.
At this price point the Dacia clearly doesn't have that.

honestly all EV cars are overpriced so to see an affordable option is great. I wouldn't buy one personally but I would definitely consider this as a first car for my kids when they get their license. It's cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap to insure and will do the usual getting from A to B that a new driver would want.

In brazil this car was the cheaper EV that you can buy, whit the price of 30k USD (brazil until 2024 hasnt taxes on ev) so apear the byd dolphin whit bigger batery, better interior, better build quality overall, now the renault kwid e-tech (all dacias here are called renaults) cost around 20k (still expensive)

Well, it's cheap, even cheaper than an MG4. I know someone who has one and they're really happy with it it's the household second car and they use it as a daily runabout. My friend was even telling me it's poor performance is actually a bonus: it makes it much less likely to go over the speed limit!

evaluating this car on top speed and refinement seems pointless when this is priced to replace a petrol city car; nobody buys a city car for long trips.
this car seems perfectly placed as a runabout, only unlike previous attempts (e. g. Honda e) this one is actually priced correctly.

This is a really harsh review. Does it look, sound and feel cheap Yes. But it's built to a very low price point and is a great way for people with less money to spend to get an EV to take them to and from work. Would be great if you could review it without obvious bias against cheaper cars.
