hey guys, quick question here! i have a 1999 Lexus es300 1mz VVT with 180, xxx miles. i know the motor mounts are bad and need replacing because the motor moves when shifting into gears. my question and biggest concern is, could bad motor mounts cause a hard shift into 2nd gear from 1st gear? everytime I stop at a red light or stop sign or anything, after moving off again it will over rev and shift hard into 2nd gear. every other gear shift is normal. downshifts are normal. only does it from 1st to 2nd gear shifts. it is motor/trans mounts or do i need to get the trans serviced?

The problem I'm encountering with motor mounts. is consistency in quality. or simply having to wade through the cheap crap. to try to find a decent motor mount. Bought some Anchor motor mounts recently. and they are honestly complete garbage. Because they're so cheap, they're not even worth returning. They simply go in the garbage bin. I'm not the first one to have to do that with Anchor crap. I'm struggling to find anything decent for a 1992 Ford F250. without having to go pay exorbitant amounts of money at a Ford dealership.

I have noticed that the car will start to jerk/pull when I let off the gas pedal. It is only noticeable at speeds of 55 kmph or higher. It doesn't happen when I accelerate or decelerate, only when I take my foot off the gas to coast. I don't hear any unusual noises, the car sounds fine.
car has 190000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission. Newly Clutch plate changed and atf changed.
Can anyone help? Thanks

Chris, where did you get your torque specs? I just did the mounts on my daughters 2001 Windstar and I have the Ford shop manual and it list 69ft lbs for the top nut, and 56ft lb for the bottom nut. This is for the 3. 8 engine. Did it just as you showed, new mount was a little taller than the old, but finally got it turned just right and it slipped right in. Thanks for the help!

Love your videos! With your videos, I have saved a ton of money. I wish you had done the transmission mount on your B3000. When I try to find info online, it only gives details on the Ford Ranger. I am guessing the procedure is pretty much the same. But it really goes along way when your videos are specific to your Mazda

2 of 3 mounts in my car are easy to do. # 3 is a real bear. Tech couldn't do it either. Had to call shop owner who was really slick in assembling swivels, extensions and an adapter to access the mount bracket. Made it look simple.

Sounds like my scenario. The workshop manual for my car stated 74 Lb ft for engine mount bolt. Sheared right off. Subsequently found another place in the manual it said 46 lb ft. That manual mistake cost me a lot of time and money.

Excellent Video. NEWBIE QUESTION: When you jack up the engine, don't you have to worry about putting strain on the transmission, exhaust, and all the other things the engine is connected to?
