How the Media Killed this Incredible Supercar

The 80s gave us some of the most iconic supercars like the Ferrari Testarossa, the Lamborghini Countach, and the C4 Corvette. But there is one car that absolutely dominated on track, it had the makings of a legend, yet barely anyone knows or talks about it. This is the story of a car built by an economist, sold at a mall, and hated by the press. The media had their sights dead set on making sure the Consulier GTP was not to be liked by the public. Yet Warren Mosler never gave up, he even used Elon Musk tactics before Elon He took a sledgehammer to his very own Consulier GTP trust us when we say this is a crazy car. Huge

I remember when this car came out, and that drivetrain was super awesome at that time. The Dodge Omni GLH was a fast little shit, albeit it was an omni but it was damn fast. And to those who say it sounds like a tractor, thats just the exhaust on that specific car, looks like a supertrapp muffler on the Consulier. Most people reading the comments here would have a smile ear to ear driving the Consulier. Also, Mopar at that time had go fast parts that you could buy directly from any mopar dealer. turbos, waste gates, ecm, intakes etc etc

The thing looks uglier than any kit car Ive seen, the pep boys wheels are hideous and the fact that it uses parts from a Chrysler and Fiero are among the big reasons I can imagine that it didnt sell all that well. The Corvette race is interesting, since when do lower brake pads reduce braking power? They arent like tires, they either have pad life left and can brake or they are totally warn and they are metal on the rotor and wont stop worth anything. The tire situation obviously could effect lap times pretty significantly.

I got to work on one of those Moslers once, back when I was a wrench. I thought it was super cool with the Chrysler turbo 4. Everyone that came in the shop thought it was a Ferrari kit car knockoff. Only got to drive it about 10 miles after a clutch replacement, but in that 10 miles it got up to 80mph pretty quickly. Super cool car

If theres one thing Donut has taught me its that the auto industry and related media are a bunch of cretins. Weve got automakers like Ford successfully throwing Firestone under the bus over their own incompetence and publications like Car & Driver showing how easily theyll turn on you if you dont pay them for cheating.

in the 80's bmw was banned, in the 90's nissan was banned and now i hear of this. THIS is why HATE racing oh and i am sure there are more cars banned too from different events what a shame learn whom banned them and the company behind the ban and just boycott the h1t otta em.

I drove one of these back in the day. The owner saw my Shelby Lancer in a parking lot in Virginia Beach and wanted to drive it. So we both took each other's cars out for a ride. BTW, this video missed Carroll Shelby's version of the car. I saw it tested in Atlanta.

some of the people that control racing and make up rules are real assholes. saw ford v ferrari and at the beginning, there was the rule they added that required a certain amount of luggage space in a racecar. yeah, a racecar. who needs luggage in a racecar?

Honestly Im super pissed that this happened to the consulier. It was ruined by a bunch of petty douchebags trying to make sure it wouldnt be better than the corvette and didnt want some new startup kicking their asses in racing. Absolute tragedy.

And ppl will spew their BS about how bad the Chrysler turbo cars were yet they were put in racecars that won multiple championships and later banned because ppl were butthurt. This shows you how much BS is spewed from automotive journalism

I'm missing that enthusiasm that I've come to love about the other doughnut presenters. This just sounds like he's reading the script instead of talking about it himself. I'm not trying to hate. It's just not as much fun to watch.
