There are motorcycles and there is Ducati. There is a very good reason that Ducati is the largest Italian motorcycle manufacturer to date. Ducati grew from a small company in Bologna Italy to a powerhouse creating barely road-legal motorcycles like the Ducati Panigale V4 R and Desmocedicci. In the world of racing, Ducati has been a key contender in MotoGP, WSBK, the AMA, and even at the Isle of Man TT. Setting Ducatis apart from the likes of Yamaha, Suzuki, and BMW to name a few there are staple bike features unique to the Italian stallions. Ducati bikes have some of the best styling cues on anything with two wheels, you then pair that to the Ducati L-twin engine or the V4 motor now used in production bikes to get some of the best sounding engines not to forget the Ducati dry clutch and single-sided swingarm that really make their bikes stand out. But Ducati did not start out by making motorcycles, in fact the first product to bear the Ducati name did not even have an engine. This is everything you need to know to get Up To Speed on Ducati and Ducati motorcycles. Up to Speed is a weekly automotive history show about the best cars, brands, designers, drivers and influencers ever. Host James Pumphrey covers everything from the Toyota Supra to the Chevy El Camino, The VW GTI to the Subaru WRX. The origins of every car will be uncovered to get you Up to Speed

Great video Unfortunately There are two mistakes to be pointed (in my opinion): 1. - World Superbikes series started in 1988 (not 1980. Ducati started to be competitive from the beginning, but they did not achieve the championship until 1990 with Raymond Roche, on a Ducati 851. 2. - The Aprilia RSV4 was never banned from racing: first, they won the 2010 World Superbikes title with Max Biaggi. In 2011 Ducati won again with Carlos Checa on a 1198 (the last Ducati world champion up to date, but in 2012 Aprilia took the championship again with Biaggi on a RSV4. In 2014 the RSV was world Superbike Champion once more with french rider Sylvain Guintoli. From then on Aprilia pull the plug and closed the World Superbike factory race team to concentrate their efforts on the MotoGP series, but the RSV was still used by a few semi-oficial and private teams until 2018.

This was painful to listen to. It was like watching a frat bro try to give a presentation on something he copied off the internet. Not only did you butcher the spelling of Giuliano Maoggi but you used a photoshoped picture of him with the cigarette removed from his mouth. Ducati doesn't use belts for all models in the modern era. Ones like the Panigale use cam chains. You mispronounced Cagiva every time. You didnt even mention that the 999 was designed by Pierre Terblanche (Who is not Italian. Please stick to cars.

Up to speed is my favorite series on donut. Maybe you guys could do some episode on other racing disciplines like you did with group B. You could do one on Group C, formula 1, theres tons of good candidates for episodes

ehm, we have never been under communist rule. After the second world war, Italy became a democratic republic. What you mean is that during the 80s the socialist party was the one in charge. Hope this clarifies.

I'm rebuilding a 94 900 supersport desmodue half fairing, and it's so nice to just be able to not worry about crazy electronics while still knowing you are building a beast of power and agility

Happy to see some moto love Honda's brand new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade just integrated winglets into their fairings. They've got a strong moto history too, looking forward to that episode

World Superbike Championship didn't start in 1980, it started in 1988 with Honda scoring 88 and 89 (on a RC 30, from 1990- on Ducati won a lot of titles

I hate motorcycles that pop and bang like AMGs. Leave that shit for the cages - bikes on their own sound too good to interfere with their exhaust notes.
