I definitely agree with the whole car feeling and exhaust sound can make you go slower. Whenever I drove my dads old Porsche when I was in highschool it was awesome. Low, loud, and handles like a dream, it was fast but I never sped in it. I just wanted to enjoy the car for what it is. However in my own pickup truck I would always speed to like 80 and never know it, or I d do it just to try n feel something. Loud cars saves lives lol, it Atleast keeps me from acting like an idiot on the streets.

I have a 1989 33 kw 4 speed renault 5 and i just love to drive it, you get to 4th going 60 km/h with a joy, cause it takes more time for it to accelerate, which means more time feeling the acceleration, comparing that to my brothers Peugeot 407 100 kw, which goes to 60 in 3rd mid rev is so much better, cause in peugeot it takes about 5 seconds and in Renault it takes over 10 seconds, so it feels so much faster

idk but my moms 2014 focus se feels faster than my turbo charged st, i think it feels faster because of one car being an auto and the other a standard - in the auto its push the pedal and go no waiting for the clutch. i also tend to speed more in my moms car than in my own possibley because im not looking at the dash as much to make sure im hitting the sweet spot for those fuel efficient shifts

That's funny I just experienced this yesterday. I drove across 3 states yesterday with an MDX then picked up my cobalt ss and drove another hour with that and kept realizing I was going 10mph under on the freeway.
Also a few years ago I was at an indoor karting place and when i was done i hopped into my scion xa and kept realizing i was going well above the speed limit on the freeway

Great information! It reminds me of when I went on a roller coaster. When I was sitting in the front, I knew what was coming and I didn't close my eyes. Rode in the back and closed my eyes because I didn't know what was going on and instantly thought I was going to have to do a barrel roll to save my life if I was going to get launched from my seat.

In Nov 2012, I went to Western NC to pick up my new 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T with 6 speed manual and 3. 73 limited slip differential. During the 4 hr drive home I found myself repeatedly having to adjust my speed downward and trying to pay more attention to the speedometer. I was finding myself typically 15-20 mph over the speed limit.

You might actually say about drivers seat position. Especially when it is moved forwards the steering wheel. This adds quite big to the speed feel. I ve noticed it in my old slow car. Moreover, driving at straight high quality surface road without any road obstacles, signs, landscape objects can smooth the speed feeling quite seriously.

This was an interesting test comparing the two cars for the sensation of speed. But I would say that you did not standardize the seats in the two cars. This can lead to an inherent bias. But overall, the results might not be that much different. The cars definitely feel different because of suspension differences. Love the show my dudes!

Honda Jazz/Fit 1. 3l 2003 owner here. Well, when I go on the Highway doing 120km/h like usual it feels way too slow (it's too slow anyway in my opinion) but I don't get the difference of doing 170km/h or 120km/h cause it feels the same. It's stock and probably will never get any mods because i'll just burn it down at one point.

My Volvo 940 at 90mph feels slower than my Volvo S60 at 60mph. The S60 has way stiffer suspension, sits lower and has sharper steering so it feels snappier and you feel the road more. The 940 feels like sitting in a lazyboy chair and watching some Forza gameplay on a big TV.
