Those climate control interfaces are not designed by engineers. Industrial designers design the interface or ux. Engineers, for the most part, only design the things you don't see on a car or any mass produced product. Engineers are incapable of designing things that look nice and provide an intuitive experience. If you haven't guessed yet, I'm an industrial designer We don't really consider engineers to be designers in the sense that we consider ourselves designers. We make things look and feel nice engineers just make things function with minimal consideration to the way things look and feel or evoke emotion, etc.

Hes not wrong about the acceleration in the mk 2 plus. The gas pedal is like a hyperspace button. When you floor it at speed you just end up somewhere else, slightly puzzled. Definitely more for the track than the road. However, the pick was a R8 mk1 v10 with the manual shift - I dont care how good the DSG is, it isnt driving in the same way without the manual transmission. The connection is so much more pleasurable, you realise how much experience the semi-auto removes

They ditched the no-nonsense door handle the original R8 hasAnd where is the HUD? Audi has been putting those in for a few years, but not in this car. The only supercar that has a HUD (at least I know) is the Corvette ZR1. Even that is bare bones. I am that guy who has a NSX and people laugh about the only Acura that has a keyhole (Yes, now people say a REAL modern car has no keyhole)Russian car culture is odd

Germans dont drink out of cups a lot or small bottles that much, they do, but more popular are 1 liter or 1, 5 liter glass or reusable hard plastic bottles. They drink Coke or other soda or energy drinks, but carbonated water is as German as it gets. Thats why they dont care as much about cup holders, VW golf/rabbit or other VWs have a big spot in the door panel for a big bottle.

4: 48 The cupholder situation isn't as bad as he says it is. I own a 2018 R8 and the lid has a 2 stage hinge which allows it to go all the way back and vertical which he didn't do here. Also the sides next to the cup holder when cups are in it aren't that small. I have a Range Rover with fold down arm rests that are the same width. Non-issue here folks.

I daily drive the tiny brother of this R8, the mk3 TT, which basically gets the exact same dashboard and center console, and not only it gets the same climate controls, but the climate controls are _actually the vents themselves at the same time, _ it's by far the most intuitive interior ever without any competition in sight.

Hey, i work in SEAT dealer ship in Eastern Europe. The Digital Cockpit for all VAG group is sold from the manufacturer to VAG for 170. Just wanted to say it. The transition from physical buttons to touch buttons, its actualy cheaper to do Touch buttons and screens rather than physical. Love the R8

God damn. Why the automakers are messing up the +- on shifter. + should be backward as it was in original wrc cars, - should be forward. THIS WORKS WITH THE FORCES WHILE CAR IS MOVING. why they are messing it up. If i remember R8 was the first one to mess this up and rest of the brands followed this

Car nav systems all suck. Little bitty dials and buttons to enter data with one letter/number at a time. When are car manufacturers going to learn from the aircraft industry and let you enter the destination on an ipad and download to the FMS/nav system like a modern jet.
