I loved my 91 white one And the one car I wished i never got RID OF IT I had one 1st Gen Gsx Two 2nd Gen TSIs and a 2nd Gen Talon DL. Never had a Lazer though. DSM cars a my favorite and some day I will own another 1st Gen Gsx. I had 3inch header and custom 3inch exhaust Turbo timer and boost adjuster blow off valve. I miss that whooooooosh and being pushed in the seat. Man I got into soooooo much trouble with my Dsm cars. It was a Camero Mustang eater from 0 to a buck 30. It always feels like being in the cockpit of a fighter Pilot behind the wheel of a Dsm cars. From the easy reach to everything to being thrown back into the seats while grabin gears. But the ONE thing that sucked was the auto seat belt. If you changed the timing belt and oil and took care of the turbo these ran great and were realiable. These Dsm cars hold a special place in the heart. all the memories of whippin all the civic accord mustang camero Integra Z-24 Grand Spams Asses. Oh My hiding spot was there in the center consol same place or the under the trim between the ashtray and radio. Ever notice they ALL smell the same? That trim comes off and saved my ass plenty times. 1st 2nd Gen Dsm for life

I had a '91 Eagle talon tsi AWD intercooled TURBO 5-speed in white with buckskin interiorI LOVED that carIt was a ripper 195 hp and oh so sharp stylingThe ground effects, power dome hood bulge, black roof and rear wing And the interior with its dash that wrapped around the driver, Infiniti sound system and great soft textures everywhere It was AWESOMEId LOVE to have it nowThis guy doesnt know what the heck hes talking about. SLOW? 5/10 handling? 6/10 styling? This guy is highAnd WHO doesnt know what an equalizer is? Oh well. My talon was far better than the GSX anyway. Not that this doofus would get it.

0: 10 That means that it was far better than the crap (Subaru Brazzers/Toyota JK-86) that we get today. Even people willing to shell out 50k just get a BMW Z4 with a cheaper interior and paint job in today's world. It's all very shameful, because Toyota could be making more money for themselves and their shareholders, as could Mitsubishi and Honda, if they had the one testicle required to deviate from the past performance historical models generated by Oracle, and pay attention to a large portion of their customer base, but nobody wants to be rich or get sued. And so, we all watch these videos.

A couple cars on par with the Mitsubishi Eclipse from that era that you didn't mention were the Honda CRX and the Mazda MX3. The Honda CRX definitely has ton's of history in the tuning world and actually has 1990 year examples. The Mazda MX3 first debuted in 1991 and had huge tuning potential with ton's of aftermarket parts and engine replacements available. Both the CRX and the MX3 are sporty hatchbacks which were tuned heavily after market and I doubt you'll find a prime example anywhere in the US. But I challenge you to try.

My mom had a '90 GS. so that pretty much became my car when I reached driving age in 1991. Over only recent years I've learned of the side designation on the gas pump icon by the meter on most cars that lets one know which side of the vehicle the gas tank fill port is on. I'm surprised to see that this feature isn't on this generation of Eclipse. An interesting bit of trivia. Also FYI, her stereo was way cooler. It had long series of push in/out knobs for the equalizer.

Note for Doug: Equalizers were a common feature in cars around the time of automatic seatbelts, but they were actually just kind of gimmicky and generally served no real purpose - and when they did, most people had no idea how to use them. FWIW, I like automatic seatbelts and popup headlights. I'd like automatic seatbelts in particular to make a comeback.

I owned a 1992 Eclipse GS with a 6-CD changer and it kicked ass. Fast as hell, handled well. I removed the lug covers to give the wheels a sportier look (to me. Timing belt broke and began a series of events that ultimately changed my life. I eventually changed the engine but it never ran the same again. That car was a helluva machine.

Had a 90 GSX - it was great Fast and big brakes too. After warranty was up at 60k, dealer turned the waste gate screw and much more fun Drove it year round in MN. Got pummeled by hail and traded in for minivan. Mechanics knew what it was and cops got a report of them performing donuts on residential streets. Just loved it.

The high beams with the headlights down ARE the high beams with the headlights up. They REFLECTED from inside the clear lenses when facing down. and with the dome lights that had off the middle button was for it to come on with the doors and the left button that said on was to turn it on while inside with the doors shut.

I had a 1992 GSX. The sliders on the radio are an equalizer for tuning the sound. I got mine for a bargain of 150 because the previous owner didn't want to replace the timing belt. It was super clean besides the engine work. I sold it to a friend for 500 and never saw it again.
