Eerrrm, Dough, if I place Breitling logo inside The analog clock would it look better to YOU. because as far as I remember you quite liked it in Bentley as well as the Rolls-Royce analog clock for 7000? But hey, it is here in VW, so if it does not cost at least 3000, it is crappy and useless. Dough, i can assure you, that VW designers know very well the reason about every singe screw, bolt, button, cable and bulb place and why it is where it is, ok? + VW knows, that practically every buyer of their car is more likely going to have mobile phone and i am almost sure down to 99, 99999% that every mobile phone nowadays has got clock option so in Your terms, the watch makers, the watch you wear on your wrist are also ridiculous option in which case Patek Philippe, Breague, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger Le Coultre or Audemars Piguet just did not get it and they are wrong with all their products. I am also surprised why they did not close the Swiss watch Business because analog watches and clocks are pretentious garbage: ) Well, that only applies to everything else unless it is in Rolls-Royce or Bentley: ) JUST TO ADD TWO more points to you my friend: )>>> i am going to give you one clue and to all of you wondering why two clocks are on the dashboard(and also so very close to each other) apart from anything else: I have got VW Phaeton that has got two clocks as well so from my experience, the digital clock only works/is displayed when ignition is ON, whereas The analog one is there all the time, you can tell the time just from looking into the cabin of locked car. And to answer your the question why so close to each other. I would say this, VW is very much focused on simplicity, so instead of one clock being in the middle and the other one on the roof or instrument cluster or door or bonnet or boot or around glove box, they decided, that for you as a driver mainly, is faster and less complicated to find out about time, just by looking at their dedicated clock area which is in the middle of the dashboard. Therefore it is less confusing to try to look at multiple places, instead of that, you always know where the clock area is + to more to the point, everybody in the car, all 4 or 5 passengers are able to see the time because it is WHERE IT IS: ) wherever you sit, THE LUXURY FEATURE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR EVERYBODY: ) well? :) good video anyway you lunatic: )

Analog clock = reflects tradition for the CC ---> Arteon and you can see what time it is with the car off (only during the day though and if you don't have your cellphone on you. LOL. Love Doug's reviews Owned a 2017 CC and really liked it except interior noise was ridiculously loud. Hopefully they have significantly improved on that. Now own a 2018 Stinger GT2, which costs less that the Arteon R-line - NO comparison. GT2 is such a sweet car with amazing power, super fun to drive and great for the eyes. Can't believe how expensive the Arteon is with what is on the market for at or a lower price.

Dang 48K for an Arteon R, and it's like an Audi A7 at a discount? Do you realize, looking at that engine bay, that engine and drivetrain swaps will be easy in this thing? (It's a watercooled VW) And it's not another damned SUV? This looks like an awesome daily, it's fast enough, it's comfy enough, it has a gorgeous interior, it uses fixed gauges which recall old timey VW's, and it's much cheaper than a similar Audi. Sounds like a hell of a deal. I'll buy a base model and swap in a VR6 and 4Motion in it, maybe a manual trans while I'm at it.

Redundant analog clock you say. far too lazy to use your eyes in combination with your brain Id say. Im a dub man and I will not drive anything else, the analog clock which you claim is redundant is actually far from redundant, my eyes track straight towards my clock when I need to know the time, despite having the two other digital clocks which you point out. Dub, dont listen to this man. He knows nothing and certainly cannot speak for all of us who DO have the ability to decipher the time of day dependant on where each hand points

VW tried to cram too much into the trunk lid. There is a BIG tradeoff for that. If the backup camera jams, you are locked out of your trunk. There is no emergency release from the front. The GTI and Golf also use this feature. I unfortunately got one of the bad batches of Golfs with this issue and got locked out of the trunk. The camera jammed and I had to drive to a dealer for service. It was covered under warranty but a lot of owners were having the same problem so it took all day for them replace it.

I prefer the analog clock in my DD Chrysler. It's in a convenient location and the face lights up a soothing green at night. I quite like it. Plus, it keeps time accurately throughout DST shifts, whereas the Mitsubishi head unit runs a little fast (about a minute every month. I'm surprised Doug doesn't like analog clocks. They're one of my favorite quirks and features. I think he'll come around as they become more and more rare.

I understand the feeling that a turbo 4 cylinder is lacking for a flagship model. But it's totally understandable. You're right that not wanting to step on Audi's toes is a part of it but equally important is VolksWagen's own brand. VolksWagen means the people's car, as a result, nothing with a VW badge is ever going to be a proper performance car. They always want to take the family + economy angle.

A lot of these features, including the infotainment system, have been the same since VW updated their systems in 2016. My 2016 GTI did all this, and I was in a Touran cab in Germany with the same system. My GTI and my moms 2012 Tiguan have the same cup holder in the rear center as well. The flip and rear cam logo was on my GTI. Commonality of features across VW the product line always impresses me.

I heard from a vw employe they renamed the cc to arteon bacause the cc was Tied to the Passat in the minds of the People. The wanted it To be rocognised as an own line of a Sports Sedan instead of a Sporty Passat. The First cc was a passat cc the next cc was just a cc, but People still called it Passat cc. And since nobody pays 48k for a Passat, they needed to Split this connection and renamed it.

I have a 2013 CC Sport and love it and the Arteon's my next car. My wife has the 250 CLA (We love the slopped look of both. Thank You VW for not abandoning the sedan for crossovers and SUV's like everyone else. It's a shame the US is all about the SUV; our home will never have a crossover and SUV in the driveway. Long live the sport sedans.
